Bank Robber Arrested After 1.5 Million Baht Heist in Bangkok
A 54-year-old man was arrested in Bangkok after robbing a bank in Pathum Thani of 1.5 million baht, fleeing in a rented sedan that he later burned to destroy evidence.
A gunman robbed a bank in the Talad Thai district of Klong Luang, Pathum Thani province, escaping with 1.5 million baht in cash. Police investigations revealed the suspect is a man approximately 170 centimeters tall who wore a wool beanie to conceal his face, a red shirt, and gloves. He entered the bank alone about five minutes before closing time, wedging an iron bar against the door to prevent anyone from entering, then brandished a handgun to threaten five bank employees and one auditor.
The robber forced staff to hand over approximately 500,000 baht from the counter, then coerced them to open the safe and took another 1 million baht, totaling 1.5 million baht. After the heist, he fled in a sedan with a Songkhla license plate, which was later found burned at an abandoned lot near Phahon Yothin Road, across from Klong Luang Post Office. The license plate was found to be fake.
On September 11, 2025, police from Region 1 arrested 54-year-old Saifah, the bank robbery suspect, at a resort in the Ramintra area of Bangkok. The suspect had burn injuries on his face and arms, apparently sustained while hastily burning the vehicle. Investigators found the getaway car was a rental from a private company, leased on September 3. Background checks revealed the suspect had previously robbed an armored cash truck 14 years ago and had been released from prison before committing this second robbery. He was transferred to Klong Luang Police Station in Pathum Thani for further questioning.
