Sri Racha Residents Stock Water Ahead of 3-Day Supply Shutdown
Sri Racha residents are stockpiling water ahead of a three-day supply shutdown from November 2–4 for major pipe repairs near the Nong Kho treatment plant.
Panic buying of water storage tanks swept across Sri Racha district, Chonburi, after the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) Sri Racha branch announced a shutdown of large-diameter pipes from November 2 to 4, leaving residents anxious about three consecutive days without tap water. Some schools opted to close temporarily. Kittipong, 40, said he was distressed because his rented room offered little storage space, heavily impacting his daily routine. Duangjai, 68, bought plastic tanks to store water; she acknowledged the full impact but urged acceptance for the sake of future water stability and community prosperity. The repair, involving an 800-millimetre main near the Nong Kho treatment plant, aims to boost capacity and long-term supply reliability. PWA crews pre-positioned pipes and fittings and will work 24 hours a day, targeting completion within 12 hours with a 12-hour contingency. Seven water distribution points will operate from 08:00 to 20:00 for two days, supported by about 15 water trucks from PWA, local administrations, and the Navy.
