Suan Rotfai Owner Counters Influencer's Claims Over Coffee Booth Dispute
The owner of Suan Rotfai restaurant at Wachirabenchathat Park disputes claims by sports influencer Golf Kanyanin, who alleged mistreatment after setting up a coffee booth. The owner says Golf agreed to a free community booth for runners but instead operated a commercial coffee sale using the restaurant's utilities. Police mediated the dispute, and CCTV footage contradicts allegations of detention. The restaurant has since faced a wave of 1-star reviews.
The owner of the 'Suan Rotfai' restaurant at Wachirabenchathat Park (Suan Rotfai) clarified the drama regarding the 'runners' rest stop' with the other party, Golf Kanyanin, a sports influencer who posted a tearful video that went viral on social media.
The owner revealed that the first discussion took place on July 6, when Golf and her boyfriend Ot contacted the restaurant to request setting up a booth to distribute coffee and create a community for runners. Initially, they asked to rent space on a revenue-sharing basis, but the restaurant declined. However, the owner agreed to allow a community booth for runners. Other details were not discussed clearly, and no permission was requested to use water or electricity.
The restaurant manager stated that on October 16 at 3:00 PM, Golf arrived to set up a booth to prepare for the next morning's event. At that time, there was only an empty tent. But on the morning of October 17, Golf arrived with her team, bringing ice buckets, menu signs, and began selling coffee. By 8:00 AM, restaurant staff reported that they were not giving away coffee as agreed, and were also using the restaurant's water and electricity.
The owner called Golf and asked her to stop selling. Golf spoke with the owner, reasoning that she could not stop because there were many customers.
The owner admitted to being quick-tempered and speaking harshly about the booth being in the wrong spot, saying, "Don't let me see you running around here, I'll curse you heavily."
The restaurant then filed a police report. Two officers from Bang Sue Police Station came to the restaurant and mediated at a table in front of the shop. Only Golf's staff were present; Golf and Ot had already packed up and left. Ot later returned. The owner thought the matter was resolved that day until seeing Golf's posted video.
Meanwhile, the restaurant showed CCTV footage to the press to prove their innocence, confirming no detention or intimidation occurred. The video shows the owner, a staff member, and two police officers sitting at a table in front of the shop talking casually.
Regarding the booth arrangement, the owner confirmed there was no advance planning for two months, no other details discussed besides requesting permission to set up the space via Line. The owner only asked for an apology to be posted to prevent similar incidents with others.
However, after Golf's video spread, the restaurant suffered significant impact from 1-star reviews.
"I'm not that good a person to let someone selling the same products set up a booth in front of my shop, because it's a business," the owner said.
The owner no longer wants Golf to explain anything but will wait to see feedback after this interview to see if the matter ends. If not, the owner is ready to pursue legal action to the fullest extent.
