Thai Chicken Exports Face First Decline in 20 Years

China suspended imports from most Thai chicken processing plants after discovering exports exceeded production capacity, marking Thailand's first major export decline in two decades as the market shifts to competitors like Brazil and Russia

Thai Chicken Exports Face First Decline in 20 Years
9 Jul Khaosod

Thailand's chicken export industry is reeling from a major setback as China's General Administration of Customs suspended import permissions for chicken pieces and meat from Thai factories after discovering exports exceeded actual production capacity. The action, effective since July 2024, temporarily halts imports from 17 of Thailand's 22 certified processing facilities.

China has dropped from Thailand's largest chicken export market—commanding 37% of exports in 2023—to third place with just 16% market share today. Nearly all of Thailand's chicken exports to China (99.9%) are frozen meat pieces and offal, with only 0.1% fresh chilled chicken. This sharp decline compounds existing challenges from weakened orders and intense price competition.

The Kasikornbank Research Center projects Thailand's frozen and chilled chicken exports will reach $1,255 million in 2025, representing a 13% decline year-on-year. Exports have already fallen 20% in the first five months of 2025. Major markets like Japan and China are expected to remain weak, though Malaysia, South Korea, and Hong Kong show potential growth.

Thailand and China recently approved a new poultry export protocol awaiting formal signature. If Thai factories successfully meet the updated standards, exports may gradually recover. However, Thailand faces tough price competition from rivals like Brazil and Russia, whose prices are roughly 30% lower.

Experts recommend Thailand strengthen digital traceability systems and blockchain technology, enforce stricter production standards, diversify markets to reduce price competition and trade barriers, and shift toward higher-value products like processed and cooked chicken.

England Must Find Way To Stop Haaland, Rogers Says
9 Jul Khaosod

England forward Morgan Rogers has stated that the Three Lions must find a way to stop Norway's Erling Haaland before their 2026 World Cup quarterfinal meeting on July 11 (early morning July 12), though he acknowledged it will be a difficult challenge. Rogers explained that England needs to manage the elite striker, who is familiar with top-tier league football and has already scored seven goals in the tournament. "Has anyone ever stopped Erling Haaland? I'm not sure they have, but we'll try," Rogers said in an interview. "He's an incredible player. What he does, the numbers he puts up—you know how good he is. We might have to try to stop the supply getting to him and the chances he creates, because he's so dangerous in front of goal."

Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged making mistakes during his time as head coach of Manchester United at Old Trafford. Amorim recently took over as the new head coach of AC Milan in Serie A Italy, following his dismissal from Manchester United's Premier League post in January after approximately 14 months in charge. In a recent interview, Amorim stated: "It's difficult to explain the mistakes because I need to explain the full context of this recent adventure first." "It's hard to tell you about every mistake. The only thing I can say is that I've learned a lot, and I did make mistakes in some things." "I didn't get the opportunity, and I regret that. As for Manchester United fans, I'm truly proud to have been their coach for a year." "But now it's a different history. You need to learn to find the right point to move to the next level, and I think that's here." "Everyone learns from experience. I've learned a lot. I made some mistakes, and there are many things I'm trying to change, and some things you never change, but I think I'll be a better coach."

Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes his team, the "Red Devils of Europe," can pull off a shock at the World Cup by defeating Spain in the last eight. Belgium faces Euro champions Spain in the World Cup 2026 quarterfinals on July 11.

"Upsets happen in every tournament—Champions League, Europa League, the World Cup—there are always surprises. I believe we can be one of them. Knocking out the European champions would certainly defy expectations. The confidence is already there."

Woman in Viral Video Files Complaint Over Life Ruined

A woman featured in a viral video claiming 77 million views filed a police complaint after losing her job and facing public shaming, insisting she was deceived about the man's marital status and was heavily intoxicated during the incident.

Woman in Viral Video Files Complaint Over Life Ruined
9 Jul Khaosod

A woman featured in a viral clip insists she is not a mistress and has filed a police report seeking maximum legal action. Her life has been devastated—she lost her job and faced public shaming—after a video showing her with a married man went viral on social media, racking up 77 million views. She claims she was deceived into believing the man was single and didn't know he had a registered spouse.

The case began when Bam, the man's wife, discovered him in bed with another woman and recorded video footage. The clip spread rapidly online under the title "Doraemon Pillow Leaves Green Thermos." Bam appeared on a talk show and stated that despite her love, she cannot forgive him this time and will proceed with divorce.

The woman in the viral video, a coworker of the man, spoke publicly for the first time after filing her complaint. She revealed the incident happened quickly and she was heavily intoxicated at the time, unaware of what was occurring. She emphasized she is pursuing the case against the woman who posted the video and will not negotiate.

"I don't know what to say—it's too severe. I can't handle this right now because everything happened so fast, and I was drunk so I didn't understand anything," she stated. "I've filed a complaint and will pursue this to the end. The defamation and indecency—they didn't blur my face, I'm visible in everything. My family is suffering because people know who we are."

She clarified that the man told her he was single when they first met. "The first time we talked and got together, he said he was single. He confirmed he was always single," she explained, adding she didn't see any signs at his place indicating he was married.

When asked about the impact on her life, she said: "It's been a lot. I lost my job because I didn't have the courage to face anyone. My parents called crying, asking why I did this. I had to explain to my mother that I didn't intend this, I didn't know anything, I was drunk. Before meeting or talking to someone, you need to know if they're single. In the video, he said he was single. I had no idea about his marriage certificate. I only knew he'd had an ex-girlfriend."

She stressed she was not in a relationship with him: "We were friends who worked together, went to parties, and hung out. I was extremely drunk that day—I lost consciousness. I thought he was just a friend getting food with me. That woman and I normally joke around like that."

Regarding the moment captured in the video, she said: "When I smiled, I didn't realize I wasn't wearing clothes. I forgot. When I started to realize it wasn't right and regained some consciousness, I tried to cover up. Before that, we were drinking heavily."

She firmly denied being a mistress: "It hurts. I'm not a mistress. I don't even know him that well. It was my first time going there, never before. You can ask his side because my intentions were pure. I never saw Bam, never knew her. I just found out her name is Bam."

When asked if she fears Bam filing charges against her, she replied: "No, because I didn't do anything. It might be legally wrong that he had a marriage certificate, but I didn't know. I really didn't know if he was married or had a wife. He only told me he was separated, and he said that when the incident happened, but before that, he said he was single the whole time. There was no one else."

She added: "When a husband cheats, you have to look at another angle—was the other woman complicit? Did she know? In my case, I had no idea. But posting it like that was inappropriate and excessive. How am I supposed to live my life now?"

Paraguay Senator Continues Criticism of Mbappé's Sportsmanship

Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla escalated her feud with French footballer Kylian Mbappé, accusing him of disrespecting her country's culture after he refused to shake hands with Paraguay's goalkeeper following their World Cup match.

Paraguay Senator Continues Criticism of Mbappé's Sportsmanship
9 Jul Khaosod

Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla continues her relentless criticism of French captain Kylian Mbappé, now focusing on his alleged lack of respect for opponents after he refused to shake hands with Bernardo Gill, Paraguay's goalkeeper, following their World Cup match.

On July 4, during the 2026 World Cup Round of 16, France narrowly defeated Paraguay 1-0, with Mbappé scoring the winning penalty kick. After the match, Amarilla posted insulting comments on X, calling Mbappé a marginalized Cameroonian attempting to pose as French and an illiterate savage.

Mbappé responded on X, calling the senator disgusting and unfit for her position. He accused her of being incompetent and damaging her own country's reputation, vowing not to allow her to spread hatred worldwide.

Amarilla then countered by threatening legal action against the Real Madrid star, accusing him of sexual assault.

Most recently, the Paraguayan senator has resumed her attacks on Mbappé, this time criticizing his refusal to shake hands with Bernardo Gill. "Greeting people is part of Paraguayan culture. Saying hello, wishing people well, offering blessings—that is our culture," Amarilla stated. "What made us all angry was seeing young player Orlando Gill humbly extend his hand to Mbappé in the Paraguayan manner, only for him to ignore it and yell at him. The French would never do that. Never. Never."
