At 12:57 a.m. on July 25, Nakhon Ratchasima rescue units responded to a shooting incident on Soi Thao Surath 15 in Muang District, where a group of teenagers on motorcycles armed with swords were being chased and shot at by occupants of a white sedan wielding a homemade shotgun. A 17-year-old passenger on one of the motorcycles was struck by seven rounds of gunfire to the back and fell onto the road near a wastewater treatment facility. Emergency responders attempted to revive him with chest compressions, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the confrontation began when the white sedan pursued the motorcycle group, which had been making noise throughout the night. The shooter fired at point-blank range once they caught up with the riders. Friends of the victim fled on their motorcycles, while the sedan also escaped. One of the victim's friends returned to the scene and called his parents to inform them of his death.
When the boy's parents arrived and saw their son's body, his mother collapsed to her knees in tears, crying that she had warned him not to leave home and questioning why he had to die this way. Police are investigating the incident as an urgent matter linked to a social media dispute among teenagers living in the city. Authorities are pursuing multiple suspects for assault and murder charges.
