Ten Provinces on High Alert for Landslides and Flash Floods
Thailand's Geo-Hazard Operation Center has issued a landslide and flash flood alert for ten provinces including Tak, Lampang, and Chanthaburi due to heavy rainfall expected over the next 24 hours from an active southwest monsoon system.
On September 10, 2025, the Geo-Hazard Operation Center under the Department of Mineral Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, issued an alert for landslides and flash floods due to continuous heavy rain in vulnerable areas. Rainfall forecasts indicate elevated risk of landslides particularly in ten provinces: Tak, Lampang, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachuap Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Ranong.
The Meteorological Department forecasts continued rainfall over the next 24 hours with heavy precipitation in some areas, particularly in western Upper North, Lower Northeast, the Central Region, Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East. A high-pressure system and cold air mass have moved over the Upper North and Upper Northeast, pushing the southwest monsoon trough southward through Lower North, Upper Central, and Northeast regions.
A strong low-pressure system is developing over the central South China Sea, with moderate southwest monsoon winds affecting the Andaman Sea, southern region, central region, eastern region, and the Gulf of Thailand. Volunteers and community networks in at-risk areas are urged to monitor conditions closely and prepare for potential geohazards. Officials are instructed to promptly inspect affected areas if incidents occur and provide initial guidance to residents.
