Thai Airways CEO Loses Position as Board Probes Baggage Delays
Thai Airways CEO Chai Eiamsiri was removed by the board without explanation, while a committee was set up to investigate ongoing baggage and flight‑delay problems. He said he had anticipated the move and feels no resentment, emphasizing his 41‑year tenure with the airline. Chai added that he will retire to be with his family, which has suffered stress from harsh online comments about the issue.
Chai Eiamsiri told the newspaper that he feels no sadness about losing his CEO position, saying he had come to terms with it and had sensed it coming before the latest baggage controversy. He noted that he had worked for Thai Airways for 41 years and had experienced many events, with staff aware of his contributions. Going forward he plans to step back and spend time with his family, adding that recent online criticism over the baggage situation has caused stress for his relatives, especially his children.
