Thai Army Chief Assigns 392 Officers to Border Command Posts
The Thai Army Chief has issued an order assigning 392 officers to regimental commander roles to strengthen forces along the Cambodia-Myanmar border. The appointments include promotions and transfers across the 1st to 4th Army Areas and special warfare units. Key postings place experienced officers in charge of border security in provinces such as Sa Kaeo.
On October 4, Army Chief Gen. Pna Klaewplodthuk signed Order 299/2569, dated October 2, appointing 392 officers to regimental commander positions. In the 1st Army Area, Col. Tosaphol Timsisit became deputy commander of the 1st Infantry Division, while Col. Somchai Kamol took command of the 31st Infantry Regiment. Col. Chaynarang Kasi, who has served on the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo, was promoted to deputy commander of the 2nd Infantry Division. Col. Natthaphon Chuankaroen assumed command of the 12th Infantry Regiment to guard the Sa Kaeo frontier. Additional postings included Col. Chaloemkiat Sirisomboon as deputy commander of the 11th Infantry Division, Col. Thatchat Athuawat as deputy commander of the 9th Infantry Division, and similar reshuffles across the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Army Areas as well as special warfare units.
