Thai Authorities Arrest 8 Cambodians for Illegal Border Crossing
Thai naval and police forces arrested eight Cambodian nationals who illegally crossed the border on foot into Chanthaburi province. The group, consisting of five men and three women, told authorities they entered Thailand seeking employment. They were detained near the border in Pong Nam Ron district and will face legal proceedings for illegal entry.
On November 2, 2026, the Royal Thai Navy, through the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defense Command and the Chanthaburi Naval Special Warfare Unit, along with the 2nd Naval Special Warfare Ranger Company, immigration officials at the permanent Ban Laem border checkpoint, and investigators from Ban Phaeng Police Station, tightened security along the Chanthaburi border. They arrested eight Cambodian nationals — five men and three women — for illegally entering the kingdom.
After spotting suspicious individuals walking into the area of Nong Ta Kong subdistrict, Pong Nam Ron district, Chanthaburi province, without travel documents, officers detained them for inspection and legal proceedings. During initial questioning, the detainees stated they had walked across the border from Cambodia to find work in Chanthaburi province.
Following the arrests, officials prepared arrest records and prepared to hand the detainees over to Ban Phaeng Police Station investigators for further legal proceedings. The operation adhered to human rights principles, respected human dignity, and protected the rights of those detained under the law, while maintaining border security and public safety.
