Thai Military Denies Cambodia's Border Blast Claims

On July 7, Army Commander's Office spokesperson Maj. Gen. Winthawai Suwaree addressed Cambodia's defense ministry statement from July 5 regarding an explosion near Tam Odon village in Udon Thani province that injured four soldiers. Cambodia claimed the incident occurred after a Cambodian patrol encountered a Thai patrol along the barbed wire fence. The Thai military presented three key points: First, Cambodia should report facts accurately rather than blame Thailand without evidence for incidents caused by their own carelessness or indiscipline. Second, Thailand strictly adheres to international rules of engagement, using weapons only as a last resort and only in direct self-defense when under immediate threat. Third, Thailand called on Cambodia to end spreading distorted news and false accusations, as this damages the peaceful atmosphere and joint efforts to resolve issues between the two countries.
