Thai tennis player Ruangkhao Lalana Tharayudee mounted a spirited effort but ultimately succumbed to a superior Russian opponent, exiting the 2026 Wimbledon Grand Slam in the second round. The match took place in England on July 2 in women's singles competition. World number 99 Lalana faced off against Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked 19th globally and seeded 18th in the tournament, from Russia. In the opening set, the young Thai player showcased excellent form, establishing a commanding 3-1 lead. However, Alexandrova surged back to reach 5-4, but Lalana held serve to level at 5-5 before losing the set 7-5. In the second set, Alexandrova came out dominant with a 3-0 lead. Although Lalana fought back to narrow the gap to 3-1 and later to 5-6, she ultimately fell short, losing 7-5 and ending her Wimbledon campaign at the second round. She took home prize money of approximately 5.5 million baht.
