Matthäus: Family Visits Distracted German Squad at World Cup

German football legend Lothar Matthäus blamed players' families visiting the squad during the 2026 World Cup as a major distraction that contributed to Germany's early elimination in the Round of 32. Matthäus drew parallels to Germany's dis

3h ago Khaosod

German football legend Lothar Matthäus has blamed players' families accompanying the squad to America as a key factor in Germany's poor performance at the 2026 World Cup. Germany delivered a disappointing result, eliminated in the Round of 32 after drawing 1-1 with Paraguay in extra time and losing 4-3 on penalties.

Matthäus drew comparisons to the 1994 World Cup, when Germany exited before the final after losing 2-1 to Bulgaria—a tournament in which he served as team captain. He noted similar circumstances occurred then.

The 65-year-old legend stated: "While many things happen on the pitch that need consideration, what happens off the pitch also deserves discussion. A documentary was made about this subject in 1994, and I think this time is not much different. The players had been in America less than two weeks when their families arrived. The players' focus wasn't on the World Cup but on their days off, spending time with their families."

Drunk Man Punched by Partner After Late-Night Home Visit

A man punched by his ex-partner after showing up drunk and uninvited at her Udon Thani home at 2 a.m. agreed to drop assault charges for 3,000 baht and an apology, seeking reconciliation.

3h ago Khaosod

A 51-year-old man from Udon Thani's Chaiyawan District filed an assault complaint with police after being punched in the face by his 50-year-old ex-partner on June 29 around 2 a.m. The incident occurred when the man, intoxicated and lonely, showed up at the house uninvited. When he insisted on going upstairs despite being told to leave, he was struck and required three stitches at the local hospital.

The man initially pursued charges but later softened his stance, expressing a desire to reconcile with his ex-partner. He agreed to drop the case in exchange for 3,000 baht compensation (1,000 per stitch) and an apology. He claimed they had been dating for nearly a year since meeting during harvest season and that he merely wanted to reconnect, admitting he may have arrived late and should not have insisted on entering.

Meanwhile, the ex-partner's 70-year-old mother disputed his account, explaining that her son does not accept transgender women and warned that the man's persistent unwanted visits would result in trespassing charges. She stated her son had no choice but to act in self-defense when the man refused to leave and attempted to force his way upstairs. She indicated this was a one-time exception but future intrusions would be reported to police.

Thai Actress Kicked Out Of Japanese Hot Spring For Tattoos

Thai actress Aum Luckana was ejected from a Japanese onsen after waterproof tape covering her tattoos peeled off in the pool, despite the facility's strict no-tattoo policy.

5h ago Khaosod

Thai actress and model Aum Luckana posted a TikTok video describing her experience at a Japanese onsen before being asked to leave due to her tattoos. She explained that the facility strictly prohibits anyone with tattoos from entering the water, regardless of size. The facility offered medical tape to cover her tattoos, which she had to purchase extra of to cover all her inked areas. When she first entered the water, the tape remained in place, but when moving to another pool, water pressure caused all the tape to peel off, resulting in her being asked to leave. She managed to soak for about 45 minutes before being stopped, which she described as a great experience despite the interruption. Luckana concluded by advising anyone with tattoos considering a visit to Japanese onsen to bring waterproof bandages, adding humorously in the caption: "If I could go back, I would never get a single tattoo."
