In her second-round match at 5:00 p.m. Thailand time, Manacharya, who upset Poland's 21st-ranked Magdalena Fręch 2-1 in the first round, faced the United States' Alicia Parks, ranked 81st globally. The pair had met once before in the WTA 125 Hong Kong tournament's first round, where Manacharya won 2-1 (5-7, 6-3, 6-4).
Manacharya started brilliantly despite some wavering late in the first set, capturing it decisively. In the second set, she played with confidence and dominant form, securing a 2-0 set victory with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-0 to successfully advance to the third round (32-player draw).
