Thai Volleyball Star Returns Home After Asian Championship Win
Thai volleyball champion Bow Kanyanarat returned to her hometown in Samut Songkhram to fulfill a vow at a local shrine after winning the Asian championship, offering 99 boiled eggs in gratitude.
On September 25 at Phet Samut Worawihan Temple in Muang District, Samut Songkhram, Bow Kanyanarat, a Thai national volleyball player and hometown native, traveled with her family to pay respects at the revered Luang Pho Ban Laem shrine and offered 99 boiled eggs in fulfillment of a vow made before the Asian championship competition. She revealed that she had promised the shrine that if she won the Asian title, she would return to make this offering. Her mother had even prepared more eggs than required for extra good fortune.
Bow expressed that returning home felt deeply comforting after being away competing for an extended period without seeing her family. She said she wanted to "come back and recharge" before continuing her athletic career. After visiting her family, she has further competitions scheduled in Nakhon Ratchasima until September 30, followed by travel to China on October 1 and return to Thailand on October 5, then club and domestic league matches.
Her mother disclosed that Bow has held faith in Luang Pho Ban Laem since childhood, wearing a locket with the shrine's image at all times. The family prays to the shrine before each trip or competition, asking for safe travels and success. At the temple, Bow received a blessed Luang Pho Ban Laem amulet from 2538 (1995) that was consecrated during a full solar eclipse ceremony, intended to bring good fortune and spiritual strength as she continues building achievements for Thai volleyball.
