Thai Weightlifter Oey Wins Bronze at 2026 Asian Games
Thailand's Oey Suratchana Kham Bao won bronze in the women's 53kg weightlifting at the Asian Games in Nagoya with a total of 214 kilograms, while teammate Sutasin Kaewsingkorn finished fifth in the 49kg category.
At the 20th Asian Games weightlifting competition held at Fukuoka Hall in Nagoya, Japan on September 23, 2025, Thailand's Oey Suratchana Kham Bao, a bronze medalist from the 2024 Paris Olympics, competed in the women's 53-kilogram category.
Oey snatched 95 kilograms and cleaned and jerked 119 kilograms for a total of 214 kilograms to secure the bronze medal.
Gold went to North Korea's Kang Hyeon-gyong, whose snatch of 99 kilograms set an Asian Games and world-equivalent record. She clean and jerked 124 kilograms for a total of 223 kilograms, also setting an Asian Games record.
Silver was claimed by China's Zhao Jinlan, who snatched 94 kilograms and clean and jerked 124 kilograms for a total of 218 kilograms.
In the women's 49-kilogram category, Thailand's Sutasin Kaewsingkorn snatched 79 kilograms and clean and jerked 99 kilograms for a total of 178 kilograms, finishing fifth and missing a medal.
Gold in that division went to North Korea's Ri Song-gum with a snatch of 94 kilograms, clean and jerk of 121 kilograms, and total of 215 kilograms. Silver went to India's Mirabai Chanu Saikhom with 87 kilograms in the snatch, 111 kilograms in the clean and jerk, and a total of 198 kilograms. Bronze went to Indonesia's Wijayana Lulak Diana Tri with 88 kilograms in the snatch, 103 kilograms in the clean and jerk, and a total of 191 kilograms.
