Thailand Completes 100 Football Fields for Youth Development
10 Aug Khaosod

The "100 Football Fields for Thai Youth Power" project, operating for 10 years under King Power Thailand, has announced the successful completion of all 100 international-standard artificial turf pitches, reaching across every region of the country including mountain zones, islands, border areas, and remote communities previously lacking sports facilities.

The 100 fields are designed as more than just football venues but as "spaces of hope" enabling diverse creative activities and community engagement. All pitches are seven-a-side international-standard artificial turf fields distributed nationwide: 13 in the North, 29 in the Northeast, 24 in the Central region, 10 in the East, 6 in the West, and 18 in the South.

Each field was constructed to international standards with safety, durability, and multiple uses in mind, accommodating education, training, competition, and community activities. The project exemplifies the football field's role as more than a sports space—as a place to build dreams, develop people, create opportunities, and strengthen communities. The 100th field was delivered to Pang Khane Pithaya School in Na Thad District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, a border-area school that previously faced limited exercise space and non-standard facilities due to rocky, hard terrain that restricted full-potential sports training and activities.

Man Mocked for Taking Plane Photos, Backlash Erupts Online
10 Aug Khaosod

A man's condescending post questioning why "low-income people" photograph aircraft during landing became a major online controversy on August 5, complete with a covert photo shot from an economy-class seat. The post accumulated over 33.5 million views and more than 7,700 comments, prompting many internet users to defend plane photography enthusiasts and note that not everyone travels frequently enough to find skyline views mundane. One commenter noted that aircraft are "fascinating" as complex machines capable of carrying hundreds of passengers through the sky, while another acknowledged that despite frequent flying, being airborne remains awe-inspiring. Internet users also observed that the poster himself occupied an economy-class seat, meaning he traveled the same way as those he mocked. The backlash intensified when he reposted private messages from critics using racially charged and derogatory language toward developing nations. The controversy expanded beyond the plane photography debate to scrutinize the poster's behavior, with some accusing him of "rage-baiting"—deliberately posting inflammatory content to generate engagement—after discovering a pattern of similar provocative and divisive posts.

Deputy PM Supachai Launches Four-Track Economic Recovery Plan

Deputy PM Supachai unveiled a four-track economic recovery plan focusing on creative industries, agriculture, SMEs, and international trade, with working groups tasked to identify urgent issues within six to twelve months.

Deputy PM Supachai Launches Four-Track Economic Recovery Plan
10 Aug Khaosod

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supachai Sutthirphanphong held a press conference following the first meeting of the Sub-Committee on Trade Development, Tourism, and Community Economy in 2569, outlining a new economic framework aligned with government policy priorities in trade and services. The sub-committee received five strategic mandates: quality tourism and wellness, creative economy, agriculture, retail and wholesale trade, and international commerce, with work not limited to these areas given the need to address both immediate and long-term structural challenges.

Four working groups were formally established to drive measurable results: the Creative Economy and Visitor Economy group, the Agricultural Products and Food Security group, the Community Economy and SME group, and the International Trade group. The Visitor Economy concept will broaden beyond traditional tourism to encompass all travelers—tourists, students, business visitors, and investors—to maximize economic value creation linked to culture, experience, and creative industries.

Veerasak Kovsuratna, chairman of the Creative Economy and Visitor Economy working group, stated the team will conduct weekly field consultations to identify 4-5 urgent issues to resolve within the first 6-12 months, addressing both opportunity creation and obstacle removal. Key barriers include foreign businesses using proxies to undercut Thai companies and domestic regulations that hamper Thai entrepreneurs, requiring the removal of unnecessary rules to accelerate competitiveness in global markets.

Kobsak Pootrakool noted agriculture must transition from traditional production to modern, high-value farming across the entire supply chain—from production through processing to marketing—especially during surplus periods. SMEs require ecosystem-wide reform affecting licensing, business registration, expansion, and export access. Minister of Culture Sabida Thaiset confirmed the Culture Ministry will support creative economy and visitor economy initiatives using cultural heritage, traditions, arts, and local identity to create new experiences and tangible community income.

On international trade, the committee agreed that rapid global changes demand leveraging free trade agreements to open new markets while protecting existing ones and balancing trade through increased SME participation in export structures. Deputy Prime Minister Supachai stated the government will coordinate with other economic committees, especially Ekniti Nitithamaratprapha's investment promotion unit, to reduce import dependence and strengthen local supply chains.

Before each lottery draw, locals and tourists visit to pray, take photos, and seek blessings. Those whose wishes come true return to express gratitude as a regular practice.

Thailand Health Board Reviews 757 Proposals to Improve Gold Card
10 Aug Khaosod

Thailand's National Health Security Board reviewed 757 public suggestions and forwarded 375 issues to advance the Gold Card system, reaffirming that the goal is to ensure citizens have easy, quality, and fair access to healthcare services and to help providers deliver continuous care to the public. On August 3, 2025, the board met under the chairmanship of Public Health Minister Pattana Prom-Pattana and acknowledged the results of public consultation under Section 18(13) of the 2002 National Health Security Act, tasking the office to submit findings to relevant quality control and sub-committees for immediate action. Dr. Amorn Leelarasmee, chairman of the social communications sub-committee, explained that the consultation process ran from October 2024 to June 2025 through district forums, focus groups, field visits, and online channels, with service providers submitting the most suggestions (316 issues), followed by service users (281 issues) and local government organizations (87 issues). The most discussed topics included budget systems and compensation rates, such as adjusting payment rates to match actual costs, faster and continuous fund transfers, reducing disbursement steps, real-time budget tracking systems, and maintaining consistent criteria throughout the year. Suggestions for elderly, disabled, and dependent persons included increasing caregiver compensation, expanding elderly care budgets, and improving access to diapers and assistive devices, while chronic disease prevention proposals called for expanded screening for diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, and cancer alongside health behavior promotion. For primary care and the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme, proposals included connecting referral systems, reducing referral paperwork, expanding telemedicine, and strengthening sub-district health centers, community clinics, pharmacies, and innovative health units, as well as integrating health databases, adding online complaint channels, and increasing flexibility for local health funds. After filtering the 757 suggestions, the board divided them into two groups: 382 issues entered the management process (152 already completed, 164 duplicate proposals consolidated, and 66 outside the board's jurisdiction referred to other agencies), while the remaining 375 issues were forwarded to relevant sub-committees and mechanisms for review, such as 58 issues on payment rates to the fund management committee, 44 on local health funds to the local health security system committee, 40 on primary care and disease prevention, 40 on benefit adjustments to the service scope committee, and 97 for direct board action. Dr. Leelarasmee stressed that sending proposals to responsible parties enables clearer progress, with the ultimate goal of enabling all citizens to access healthcare services that are easy to reach, of high quality, and equitable.

Ex-Nonthaburi MP Shoots PAO Chief, Surrenders to Police
10 Aug Khaosod

NONTHABURI — On August 10, 2026, former Nonthaburi MP Chalong Riaowrang surrendered to police after allegedly shooting Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) president Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert and his driver on Monday morning.

The shooting took place at approximately 10:20 a.m. as Thongchai was preparing to leave the Nonthaburi PAO office at the Nonthaburi Provincial Government Complex on Rattanathibet Road.

Initial investigation indicates that Chalong was waiting for Thongchai, approached his vehicle, and knocked on the window. When Thongchai opened it to speak with him, Chalong allegedly drew a firearm and opened fire.

Thongchai was shot four times, with hits to vital areas, while his driver was also struck. Rescue workers from the Nonthaburi City Municipality administered emergency treatment, including CPR, before transporting both men to Phra Nang Klao Hospital.

Security footage from the nearby Nonthaburi Provincial Public Health Office allegedly shows Chalong holding a firearm before placing it in his waistband and walking away from the scene. He later surrendered to police at a station.

A possible motive emerged after Chalong reportedly called media personality Anjalee "Jae Pong" Pairirak during her broadcast. According to her account, Chalong claimed he had shot the PAO chief and fired four or five rounds. He allegedly told her he was angry over a dispute involving 11 million baht that he claimed to have requested but was told was unavailable.

Chalong also reportedly referenced a dispute over MP candidate selection, saying he had previously asked that a certain candidate not be fielded, but the candidate was nominated anyway. He allegedly expressed feeling mistreated before announcing he would surrender to police.

The claims about financial and political disputes remain unverified, and police have not yet confirmed the motive. Nonthaburi Governor Chettha Mosikarat, along with provincial police officials and officers from Rattanathibet Police Station, inspected the scene and began collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.

PM Launches Fund Program to Cut Borrowing Costs in Half
10 Aug Khaosod

Prime Minister Anuthong Chaenyeevrakul and Interior Minister opened the 'Thai Helping Thai Capital Increase, Half Interest Rate' program at Government House on August 10, 2025 at 10:35 a.m., with participation from Minister Suksomruai Wanthanyakul, chair of the National Village and Urban Community Fund Committee.

The PM stated that the program goes beyond simple cost-sharing, emphasizing that the government is working to reduce living expenses for ordinary citizens and create opportunities for income generation. He stressed that alleviating financial hardship and revitalizing grassroots economy are top government priorities, with policies focused on reducing costs, managing debt, and improving quality of life nationwide.

The government is prioritizing economic opportunities through fair and affordable formal credit systems to develop occupational skills, increase income, and strengthen households and communities for long-term national development.

The PM noted that the program aims to reach people quickly and as broadly as possible. The Village Fund Office is implementing the initiative with a total budget of 4,452 million baht distributed to 79,610 village funds, urban community funds, and military community funds to improve financial liquidity and support livelihoods.

The PM emphasized this is not merely a capital injection but a government policy to encourage people to access formal credit systems and avoid high-interest informal loans that risk losing land, rice fields, and homes. The program will enable sustainable self-reliance, strengthen community funds, and drive stable grassroots economic growth through cooperation across all sectors.

The PM delegated full decision-making authority to Minister Suksomruai to work with the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office to maximize public benefit. He called on government officials and relevant agencies to provide full cooperation, noting that while budgets and programs are allocated, success depends on understanding that proper business principles can transform these funds into income-generating opportunities that help people avoid costly informal debt.

Nonthaburi Governor Confirms Two Shot Remain Alive During Surgery
10 Aug Khaosod

Nonthaburi Governor Chetsada Mosigratana confirmed that both the Nonthaburi PAO chief and his driver remain alive after being shot. The PAO chief, Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenpraserit, was shot three times with bullets entering his cheek and grazing his neck—a critical area near major blood vessels—and is currently undergoing surgery. His driver was shot once in the right arm and is also in surgery.

The shooting occurred outside the Nonthaburi PAO office on August 10, 2025, allegedly carried out by Chalongng Ruearang, a former Nonthaburi MP. The initial motive involves personal disputes and a disagreement over 11 million baht. At 1 p.m., Governor Chetsada visited Phra Nang Klao Hospital to monitor the two victims' conditions.

Security personnel from Rattanakosin Police Station were stationed outside the emergency room, and relevant officials were on standby. The driver was moved from the emergency department to another building within the hospital for continued treatment around 12:50 p.m.

Governor Chetsada revealed that Pol. Col. Thongchai was shot three times, with bullets striking his cheek and grazing the base of his neck near a major artery—a life-threatening location. The driver sustained a single gunshot wound to his right arm and remained conscious and communicative before surgery. The governor announced enhanced security measures would be implemented throughout the emergency room and hospital, restricting access to authorized personnel only.

The official confirmation of injury details will be provided by medical staff and the hospital. Police are continuing their investigation and interrogation of the suspect. Both parties had known each other for a long time, but Pol. Col. Thongchai had never previously disclosed any disputes or conflicts between them.

Thailand Pursues Myanmar Gas Deal, Eyes New A6 Field
10 Aug Khaosod

Thailand is moving forward with Myanmar gas contract renewals and preparing to finalize a deal on the new A6 petroleum field to diversify energy sources and strengthen long-term energy security while reducing electricity cost risks.

Government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek stated that the government places importance on maintaining relations and cooperation with neighboring countries. In the case of Myanmar, ties extend across economics, security, environment, and energy. Ongoing energy cooperation has been vital to Thailand's energy security and production cost management.

Recently, Energy Minister Eknath Prom-Phand and relevant agencies met with Myanmar's Minister of Electricity and Energy, Ko Ko Lwin, to advance bilateral energy cooperation, particularly in natural gas exploration and production, gas trading, and power grid interconnection.

Thanadirek noted that Myanmar has been a major natural gas source for Thailand for nearly 40 years. Gas from the Yadana and Zawtika fields once accounted for 15-20% of Thailand's natural gas consumption and remain critical for electricity generation, industry, and economic activity. Continued bilateral cooperation is therefore essential.

During the discussions, the two sides considered renewing contracts for maturing gas fields and explored investment in new petroleum sites, including the A6 field, which has the potential to produce and pipeline gas to Thailand. This expansion of energy options reduces the risk of over-dependence on any single source. A new energy Memorandum of Understanding will be prepared to outline the framework for future cooperation.

"Relations with neighboring countries are not remote from ordinary people," Thanadirek said. "Natural gas is one of Thailand's primary fuels for electricity generation. Having sufficient, continuous, and more diverse energy sources allows the country to better manage energy risks and costs, which directly affects electricity prices, production costs, and Thailand's competitive advantage. It also supports long-term energy security for the ASEAN region."

Multiple Victims File Complaints Against Famous Influencer
10 Aug Khaosod

Multiple victims have filed complaints against a famous influencer and streamer with over 10 million followers, alleging serious assault, indecent acts, and intimidation within the organization. On August 10, 2025, at the Sai Mai Must Survive coordination center in Bangkok's Sai Mai district, several victims submitted evidence to Ekaphop Luangprasert, founder of the Sai Mai Must Survive page, seeking justice and transparency.

One victim, a 29-year-old former employee named Aree (surname withheld), reported working with the influencer since 2566. She described how the influencer has severe emotional outbursts and poor self-control, repeatedly venting anger through verbal abuse, throwing objects, head-flicking, and spitting on food. She also reported being threatened with a knife. Despite these incidents occurring in front of multiple staff members, no one dared to intervene.

Another victim, 24-year-old Vespa (surname withheld), worked for two years and revealed that since 2567 he was required to provide his personal bank account to receive sponsor payments from unknown sources, then transfer or pay expenses as instructed via LINE. Over 1 million baht circulated through his account, with transfers reaching 1.4 million baht. Although he initially refused, he complied out of fear of the influencer's violent behavior. He resigned in December out of legal concerns and requested a transparent financial audit.

A 19-year-old trainee named A (pseudonym) worked for 8-9 months as a content creator and housekeeper. She claimed she was deceived into traveling from another province and staying at the studio under the guise of family care, but was threatened and sexually harassed multiple times, including forced hugging, biting, late-night bedroom intrusions for cheek kissing, and attempted sexual assault. She never received formal salary, only daily living expenses and launch bonuses totaling 60,000-70,000 baht. She has now filed a police report and consulted a lawyer.

Hat (surname withheld), 24, a former photographer who worked for about four months, recounted an incident on June 18 when he was severely criticized while filming camera angle content and challenged to fight. Despite apologizing with a wai gesture, he was assaulted with punches to the face, strangulation, boxing equipment strikes to the head, and spitting. He was fired the same day with threats and has filed a police report after a medical examination.

Ekaphop Luangprasert, founder of Sai Mai Must Survive, stated that all allegations come from the victims' side, while the accused has not yet responded.
