Nonthaburi Deputy Governor Shot Dead at Office
A Nonthaburi provincial administrator was fatally shot by a former MP at his office on August 10 over an 11 million baht debt dispute and election-related conflicts.
Deputy Pol. Col. Thongchai Yen-prasert, governor of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administration Organization, has died after being shot by former MP Chalong Riurang at the PAO office around 2 p.m. on August 10, 2569. The shooting reportedly stemmed from a 11 million baht debt dispute and conflicts over candidate selection for recent elections. The PAO governor's driver was also seriously wounded in the attack.
Dr. Sakol Sukprom, director of Phra Nang Klao Hospital, confirmed that Thongchai died at 2:36 p.m. The bullet struck him in the neck, damaging a major artery and causing severe blood loss. During emergency treatment, doctors transfused over 20 units of blood and blood products. However, the patient was taking blood-thinning medication and was advanced in age, both complicating treatment despite doctors' best efforts to save him.
