The Stock Exchange of Thailand will host Thailand Focus 2026: Reignite Thailand from August 26-28, 2026, to build investor confidence and present the potential of Thailand's economy, capital market, and listed companies to institutional investors worldwide. He suggests being mindful of four things during the first 30 minutes after waking.

The morning is when your body transitions from sleep mode to wakefulness. Your nervous system becomes more active, your heart rate increases slightly, and blood pressure naturally rises from nighttime levels. For people with high blood pressure or those trying to get accurate readings, Dr. Jetsada warns against rushing to consume multiple stimulants at once.

1. Don't brew strong coffee immediately, especially before measuring blood pressure. Caffeine can temporarily increase heart rate and blood pressure in some people, particularly those sensitive to it. If you drink coffee before measuring, your reading may be higher than your actual resting blood pressure. If you measure blood pressure every morning, the recommended sequence is: wake up → use bathroom → rest for a few minutes → measure blood pressure → then drink coffee. Guidelines suggest avoiding caffeine for at least 30 minutes before measurement.

2. Don't measure blood pressure while you still have a full bladder. A full bladder can interfere with blood pressure readings. The proper approach is to use the bathroom first, then return to sit and rest before measuring.

3. Don't exert yourself heavily immediately upon waking, especially if you plan to measure blood pressure afterward. While regular morning exercise is beneficial for long-term blood pressure control, physical activity temporarily increases heart rate and blood pressure. It is recommended to avoid vigorous exercise for about 30 minutes before measuring blood pressure.

Bangkok's deputy governor Adisorn Gamjitsugsri convened an emergency meeting on August 19th at City Hall to address the rollout of a crackdown on fraud in the registration of non-Thai nationals seeking identity cards. The Dindaeng district office has flagged an abnormally high number of address transfers into single residential units, in some cases exceeding 16 people per address, with 3,228 questionable registrations identified between 2017 and 2024. Officials have ordered all 50 districts to conduct immediate audits and submit complete and accurate data by September 1st for referral to the Ministry of Interior, with particular focus on pink ID cards bearing numbers starting with 7. Four Chinese men caught with alleged scam gear in Nong KhaiLegacyNong Khai immigration officers detained four Chinese men and a Thai driver yesterday, August 18, after the group allegedly crossed the Mekong River from Laos into Thailand without passports. Nong Khai immigration, along with relevant officers, intercepted a car at an intersection in Nong Khai as it was heading towards Tha Bo district. The car was driven by a 40 year old Thai man from Phrae province, with four Chinese men aged between 22 and 26 travelling as passengers. He said they had crossed the river from a neighbouring country in a small boat. The driver said he was supposed to take the group to Phitsanulok, where another person would collect them and continue the journey to Myanmar. He was reportedly promised 6,000 baht for each person he transported. Officers said they found no passports among the Chinese nationals. They suspect the group had fled a crackdown in Vientiane, Laos, and planned to travel through Thailand to Myanmar. According to investigators, the group was carrying equipment that allowed them to maintain Internet connectivity while travelling. Police believe the journey may have been linked to the relocation of an online scam operation to Myanmar and said the case would proceed according to law. Elsewhere, Thai rangers in Sa Kaeo arrested three Chinese men after they were found illegally crossing into Thailand from Cambodia through a natural path in Aranyaprathet district, intending to seek business opportunities in Bangkok. Deputy Police Commissioner Trairuang Phiwphairn has posted on Facebook about colleagues being considered for police commander-level promotions at the end of August. Regarding Tinakorn Rangmathai, known as "Rong O," Phiwphairn recalled their collaboration on cases ranging from transnational crime and intellectual property violations to drug trafficking and cybercrime. He described Rong O as an imaginative investigator—someone who can see what others miss in the same set of data. Phiwphairn noted Rong O's inseparable bond with his iPad during meetings, always documenting ideas and coordinating tasks, but emphasized this masked someone who thinks and acts fast and follows cases to completion.

During drug suppression operations under the "Every Pill" initiative, Rong O was instrumental in tackling drug networks. When crime shifted online, he adapted quickly. Phiwphairn praised his approach to cybercrime cases, emphasizing not just catching criminals but recovering stolen money for victims. For victims, that money may represent their life savings. Phiwphairn also recalled an instance when Rong O personally went to court to request a search warrant for a critical case—a task requiring him to explain evidence and answer judicial questions, showing his willingness to stand accountable.

Phiwphairn characterized Rong O as a police officer ready to challenge wrongdoing and corruption. While circumstances, criminals, and technology change, his investigative mindset and courage to act remain constant.
