The Thai Meteorological Department issued its first severe weather alert on July 8, 2025, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across northern, northeastern, and eastern Thailand from July 10-15. A low-pressure system over northern Vietnam combined with moderate southwest monsoon winds over the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will bring thunderstorms and heavy downpours to these regions, with particular danger in mountainous areas and low-lying zones prone to sudden flooding and flash floods.

Sea conditions will see waves around 2 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea, and 1-2 meters in the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, exceeding 2 meters during thunderstorms. Fishermen are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid areas with active thunderstorms.

Typhoon Bavi, currently in the Pacific, is forecast to pass through Taiwan and make landfall on China's eastern coast between July 11-12. The typhoon will not enter Thai territory. Travelers to affected regions should check weather conditions before departure.
