General Decha Mekraksri, vice president of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), president of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and chairman of the Thai Cycling Association under royal patronage, revealed that the association has partnered with Sino-Pacific Trading (Thailand) Ltd., Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), the Health Promotion Foundation, IRPC Public Company Limited, Central Korat, and FBT to organize the fourth round of the Thai Youth Track Cycling Championship for the Princess Srinagarindra Cup in 2026, held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Central Korat Hall, fourth floor, in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Mekraksri explained that the fourth round will maintain the racing format but with improved track design featuring wider lanes and a longer straightaway than round three to allow athletes to maximize their potential. The competition will also upgrade the starting gate system from magnetic to hydraulic technology for greater accuracy in athlete release, elevating the standard of competition. Mekraksri announced that the association will open the track for online viewing on Friday, July 31, at noon through the Thailand Cycling Association Facebook page. Training sessions will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, divided by age group: children ages 2.0–2.6 years from 9:00–10:30 AM, ages 2.7–10 years from 10:30 AM–12:00 PM, and formal training by age division from 1:00–6:00 PM. The team managers' meeting is scheduled for 5:00 PM at Central Korat Hall. Competition begins at 7:30 AM on Sunday with an opening ceremony at 8:00 AM, livestreamed on the Thailand Cycling Association Facebook and TCA Channel YouTube.

The chairman noted that round four will award trophies to all participating athletes, including those who do not reach the finals or rank in the top 10, along with certificates and commemorative dolls to celebrate their effort and dedication. All participants will also receive memorial medals presented by Princess Srinagarindra, and there will be additional raffle prizes to encourage the young cyclists.

Regarding the previous third round on July 19, it attracted significant parental interest as young cyclists in various divisions began to see a clear path to winning the 2026 Thai national championship. With round four marking the final stretch, the association invites parents nationwide to enter their children, as top athletes from this round will qualify for selection.

Petchtechin expresses full confidence in spotting a clear weakness in his opponent as he pursues his dream knockout of Petchdej to claim the Rajadamnern championship. The RWS event on Saturday, August 1 opens the first Saturday of the new month with a heated title bout at 115 pounds between reigning champion Petchdej of Petchyindee Academy and interim champion Petchtechin of Bang Saen Fight Club.

The pair have been scheduled to fight twice before. First, in April, Petchdej withdrew due to injury, prompting RWS to match Petchtechin against Phusing of Kham In district for the interim title. Then in June, Petchtechin withdrew injured. This marks their third scheduled meeting.

This time, Petchtechin displays complete confidence after recovering from his injury. He reports training well—the best training of his life—and is fully convinced he has identified weaknesses in Petchdej that other fighters in the 115-pound division have overlooked. He is prepared to demonstrate this on Saturday to establish himself as undisputed champion.

"My life has come far already, and the title is within reach. On August 1, I will take it," Petchtechin said. "Those who say my skills don't match Petchdej, wait and see. I am different from everyone he has faced. I will show you exactly where his weakness lies."

The stakes are enormous: champion versus champion for the Rajadamnern 115-pound title, with the winner receiving a bonus of 350,000 baht from RWS immediately, along with the championship belt. This Saturday cannot be missed.

Top Japanese Sushi Bowl Chain Opens First Thailand Location

Japan's renowned Tsujihan sushi bowl chain opened its first Thailand location at Central Park mall in mid-July, drawing massive crowds eager to try its signature volcano-shaped sashimi rice bowls featuring premium ingredients from Japanese

Top Japanese Sushi Bowl Chain Opens First Thailand Location
30 Jul Khaosod

Amazing queues have burst through the doors since the new Tsujihan restaurant opened. The restaurant marked its Thailand debut by opening its first branch at Central Park mall, fifth floor near the Roof Park exit, in mid-July 2025, and customers have been non-stop ever since.

While the restaurant may be new to Thailand, it ranks among Japan's top establishments, famous for its signature "Setagu Don"—premium sashimi rice bowls sourced directly from Japanese fish markets. The menu features salmon roe, bluefin tuna cuts, chopped tuna, sweet fresh shrimp, squid, surf clams, giant clams, herring roe, and more.

These ingredients are carefully mixed and artfully arranged into a volcano shape atop hot Japanese rice, topped with roasted sesame, seaweed, shiso leaf, and fresh wasabi. The highlight of eating here is the two-part experience: first enjoying the sashimi rice bowl with soy sauce, then pouring hot soup over the remaining rice in what's called "ochazuke"—creating the sensation of enjoying rice soup.

The main menu is straightforward, with variety added through premium ingredient upgrades like snow crab, uni, and others that increase the price accordingly. This simple formula has captivated customers, who endure waits of 2–3 hours. Global superstar Lisa even traveled to Tokyo to dine here, with fans following in her footsteps and creating even longer queues.

Another highlight of Tsujihan is its course-style service, where dishes are served sequentially rather than all at once like a set menu. It begins with "seasonal sashimi—four pieces," with a recommendation to eat two pieces first and save two for later in the soup.

The next course is "Setagu Don"—the iconic volcano-shaped sashimi bowl. You mix it in the bowl with soy sauce, eat the sashimi over rice, and when you reach the bottom, the staff pours hot soup and grates fresh yuzu peel over it. You then add the two reserved sashimi pieces on top of the bowl, creating an exquisite rice soup called "ochazuke."

It's the same bowl but with entirely different umami profiles—both dry and liquid—this is the Japanese way of eating.

Pricing starts at the "Ume course" for 390 baht, while the premium "Tokujo (Supreme)" course with snow crab, uni, and ikura costs 1,190 baht, not including VAT and service charge.

The restaurant also offers side dishes such as toro tuna marinated in Japanese soy sauce, Japanese egg rolls, and desserts and beverages. If you've won the lottery, treat yourself at this restaurant—don't miss it. —Madame Cuisine

For beef offal lovers, Siwal Ruiyant, a Phatthalung news reporter, recommends Phueng Wua Talat Phieo Old Shop, a restaurant that has preserved its delicious heritage for over 54 years. Penporn Bannsalaa, 47, the owner and daughter-in-law of the original founder, inherited the stewed beef offal recipe from her father-in-law and established the shop at 12/1 Phadungdonyaw Road, Kuhasawan Subdistrict, Muang District, Phatthalung Province.

The signature dish features beef offal from cattle aged 4–5 years, purchased fresh daily. Young Singer Ja Singhchai's TikTok Hit 'Rules of the Waiting' Goes Viral
30 Jul Khaosod

Singer Ja Singhchai's new single "Rules of the Waiting" has sparked major momentum on social media and gone viral on TikTok, with over 100,000 user-created content clips using the song. The music video views have surged rapidly, surprising even Ja himself with the overwhelming response.

Ja explained that the song, written by Games Ratchakan Khamkron and arranged by Thangsai Thawarachote, tells the story of someone waiting for an ex-lover to return. For the music video, he cast his close friend Neck Narupol as the lead character, with Pong Thaibaan directing and writing the script. The storyline depicts a man obsessively visiting a karaoke bar to see a woman he likes, serving as a metaphor for how love can drive people to madness.

Regarding the vocal performance, Ja noted this is his most challenging song yet, requiring four hours of singing with heavy emotional intensity and powerful vocal techniques. He described using his "inner voice" extensively and pulling from deep emotional reserves, saying he breaks into sweat from the effort. While his singing voice is naturally sweet, this song demanded he use a rawer, more teenage angst-ridden delivery that better suited the track's emotional weight.

The song began trending on TikTok even before the full release, with tens of thousands of users creating content with it on the first day. Ja expressed gratitude for the viral support, noting most comments relate the song to people's own relationship experiences. He emphasized that while he chooses songs he enjoys, he cannot predict which ones will become hits, and he now focuses simply on giving his best effort to each project rather than worrying about commercial success.

Karen Weavers Blend Tradition With Modern Design

A Karen weaving group from Ban Lai Gaew has thrived for over 30 years by blending traditional handloom techniques with contemporary design, now selling at Chiang Mai's Jing Jai Market while attracting young people to the craft.

Karen Weavers Blend Tradition With Modern Design
30 Jul Khaosod

For over three decades, the Karen weaving group from Ban Lai Gaew has steadily created handwoven textiles and now stands among Chiang Mai's leading craft businesses. This demonstrates that local wisdom continues to hold value and grow gracefully alongside the modern world.

Karen Weaving Doitao now brings the weavers' work to diverse audiences every Saturday and Sunday at Jing Jai Market in Chiang Mai, a space showcasing quality craft creators, designers, and local products from across the North.

Among many creative shops, Ban Lai Gaew's weaving group stands out by seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary design. Their hand-loomed cotton, naturally dyed and created on traditional looms, has evolved into clothing and everyday items suited to modern lifestyles—practical, wearable daily wear that preserves the soul of handcraft.

Customers choose these pieces not just for beauty, but because they recognize the value of craftsmanship with stories, people, and ways of life behind them. Each item becomes more than a product—it is a conversation between maker and user, carrying meaning through every thread.

Bell Sirindha Ploykalya, a young saleswoman passionate about Karen weaving, says: "Our work is hand-loomed cotton, naturally dyed and woven on traditional looms—techniques passed down through generations. I'm so proud because behind one piece of clothing, many lives come together to create it. From the cotton farmer to the dyer, the weaver, the seamstress—everyone is the heart of this work."

This reflects how developing craft doesn't mean abandoning the past, but giving traditional wisdom a place in today's world and moving confidently toward the future.

Like 17-year-old Wannika, a young person learning and growing with the community business, many youth are stepping in: "I'm happy so many customers come. I get to sell, talk with foreign tourists, and practice language skills every week. This work teaches me both how to work and how to communicate with many people."

These young people represent an important signal—Ban Lai Gaew Karen weaving is not merely a heritage of the past, but becoming inspiration for the next generation and the community's future.

Many who visit the shop start by falling in love with the soft, natural colors of cotton dyes before becoming captivated by the people's stories. Often, the relationship between buyer and community extends beyond the transaction into village visits, meetings with weavers, and intimate learning of Karen Ploi ways of life.

Since 1994, Ban Lai Gaew's Karen weaving group is writing a new chapter in Thai craft—a story where wisdom, design, sustainability, and the power of young people walk together. The future of craft is shaped by those who still believe in the value of handmade work and collectively nurture their roots to grow on beautifully.

If you visit Chiang Mai, stop by Ban Lai Gaew's weaving at Jing Jai Market every Saturday and Sunday starting at 6:30 am. You may discover that the finest craft is not just beautiful—it is filled with human spirit and purpose.
