Thieves Steal Brahma Statue From Municipality In Under A Minute
A thief on a motorcycle stole a large brass Brahma statue from the Thammasala Subdistrict Municipality office in Nakhon Pathom, completing the theft in under a minute. Surveillance footage shows the suspect wearing a pink shirt, shorts, a helmet and flip-flops while riding a yellow-plated Honda Wave. The municipality has filed a police report and is seeking public help to identify the offender.
On October 14, 2024, at 00:40, a man rode a Honda Wave motorcycle with an unreadable yellow license plate to the fence of the Thammasala Subdistrict Municipality office, crossed the fence, climbed to the Brahma shrine and snatched the statue before escaping. The entire act took less than one minute and was captured clearly by CCTV. The suspect is described as an unidentified male wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt, shorts, a helmet and flip-flops. Prior to the theft, he reportedly loitered around the area for about eight rounds starting at 20:00, taking advantage of the deserted location. After the incident, municipal officers filed a police report at Sam Khwai Phueak Police Station and distributed the surveillance footage via media to solicit tips. Authorities believe the statue may have been taken to be sold to collectors of amulets or antique dealers. The Brahma figure is made of hollow brass, measures about 15 inches across, weighs approximately five to six kilograms, has been installed for over 35 years, and is revered by municipal staff, workers and local residents.
