TMD Issues Heavy Rain Warning for 34 Thai Provinces
TMD warns of heavy to very heavy rain across 19 provinces in Southern and Central Thailand on October
The Thai Meteorological Department announced on October 28, 2026 (Announcement No. 10, 282/2569) that heavy to very heavy rain will continue in Southern Thailand with isolated downpours, while upper Thailand, especially the central region, will experience thunderstorms, strong gusts, and heavy rain in some areas. The public is warned of dangers from accumulated rainfall that could trigger flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying basins. In upper Thailand, people should avoid open fields, large trees, and unstable billboards during thunderstorms.
The warning affects 34 provinces due to a high-pressure system from China covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea, while a low-pressure trough covers the Andaman Sea. Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand may exceed two meters in stormy areas. Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorm zones.
Provinces expecting heavy rain on October 28: Central: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram. Southern: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang.
Flood-prone areas should prepare for additional rainfall, while areas already flooded should monitor water levels and follow local agency guidance. The public is urged to follow TMD updates continuously via www.tmd.go.th or hotlines 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182. The next announcement will be issued at 17:00 on October 28, 2026.
