TMD Issues Warning #10: Heavy Rain, Storms Hit 41 Provinces
TMD issued its 10th warning for heavy rain and storms across 41 Thai provinces from Nov 6–9, with the South facing very heavy downpours and flash flood risks through the weekend
The Thai Meteorological Department announced its 10th advisory on November 6, 2024, covering volatile weather in upper Thailand and heavy to very heavy rain in the South from November 6-9.
During November 6-7, upper Thailand will continue experiencing volatile conditions with thunderstorms, strong gusts, hail, and heavy rain in some areas. The public is warned of dangers from severe thunderstorms and advised to avoid open areas, large trees, and unstable billboards.
From November 7-9, rainfall will intensify across the South with heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain in some. Residents should watch for accumulated rainfall that could trigger flash floods and mudslides, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones.
This is caused by a high-pressure system or another cold air mass from China spreading over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, strengthening easterly winds across Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, waves during thunderstorms will exceed two meters. Mariners in both areas should check routes, proceed with caution, and avoid sailing in thunderstorm zones.
For safety and to reduce impacts, the public is urged to plan daily activities and travel carefully during this period. Continuous monitoring of TMD announcements is recommended via www.tmd.go.th, 0-2399-4012-13, or 1182, available 24 hours.
