Thonglor Animal Hospital has achieved a significant milestone in Thai veterinary medicine by assembling a team of over 10 specialized veterinarians to successfully perform heart surgery on a 2-month-old Golden Retriever puppy named Tan Hor, who was born with a congenital heart defect. The hospital demonstrated its expertise in handling critical cases through advanced medical technology and the power of collaborative teamwork.
Tan Hor faced a life-threatening crisis at an age when most puppies are learning about the world. Treating such a small and fragile patient required both speed and decisive action. The success of this life-saving operation reflected true teamwork, with specialists from various fields including cardiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and nursing staff working seamlessly together in the operating room to achieve one goal: restoring a healthy heart to the young puppy.
Dr. Kritiga Chaisupatnakulm, Chairman of Thonglor Animal Hospital, explained that Tan Hor suffered from Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a condition where the blood vessel connecting the aorta and pulmonary artery fails to close naturally after birth, leading to abnormal blood circulation and potential heart failure. Medical statistics show a 60% mortality rate within the first year if untreated. The surgical team decided to use a titanium clip technique to close the problematic blood vessel, requiring millimeter-level precision. This success demonstrates Thonglor Animal Hospital's international-standard treatment capabilities and commitment to comprehensive veterinary care.
Today, Tan Hor has recovered rapidly with stable vital signs and has returned to the warm embrace of his family. This success is not merely a miracle but clear proof of Thonglor Animal Hospital's DNA—never backing down from difficult cases and dedicating all resources, experience, and cutting-edge technology to improve the quality of life for beloved pets.
