Tottenham Hotspur has reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign Sandro Tonali for up to £100 million, setting a new club transfer record. According to BBC News, Spurs negotiated hard after their initial £80 million offer was rejected by Newcastle, eventually convincing the club to sell. The deal is structured as £92.5 million paid immediately, with £7.5 million in conditional add-ons.
This transfer surpasses Tottenham's previous record of £85 million spent on Matheus Fernandes from West Ham just days ago. Tonali will break that record once the move is officially completed.
With Tonali, Spurs have now signed five new players in this transfer window. Besides Fernandes, the club also acquired Yann Pvan Hecke for £52 million, while Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi joined on free transfers.
