Trump Says Iran Peace Deal Is 'Nearly Complete,' Reiterates Final Details Under Discussion
Trump says a peace deal with Iran is nearly complete, with the Strait of Hormuz to reopen for transit once final details are settled between the U.S., Iran, and regional partners.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced Saturday that a peace agreement with Iran has been "largely negotiated," subject to finalization between the United States, Iran and other relevant countries in the Middle East. According to Trump's post on Truth Social, the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened for transit under the agreement, though final details of the accord between the U.S., Iran, and other involved Middle Eastern nations are currently being discussed. On Saturday afternoon, Trump held telephone discussions with leaders of Gulf states and other regional leaders to review Iran's latest proposal. He also spoke separately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing the conversation as very productive.
