Vietnamese Gang Busted Running Illegal Cannabis Extraction Lab
3h ago Khaosod

On July 9, 2569, senior police officials ordered officers from Bang Bon Police Station to conduct a search at a company in Bangkok's Bang Bon district on May 27 following a tip that it was illegally producing cannabis extract, a controlled narcotic substance. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven Vietnamese nationals and the seizure of extraction machinery and 30 bags of cannabis extract totaling approximately 15.874 kilograms. All seven suspects denied the charges during interrogation, claiming they were merely hired workers cultivating cannabis. Police are charging them with unauthorized production of controlled substances.

Following further investigation on July 1, authorities discovered the company's structure: Vietnamese nationals controlled production and hired workers, while a Thai national held 51 percent of shares and a Vietnamese national held 49 percent, with Vietnamese nationals actually managing operations. This arrangement violated foreign business laws by using Thai nationals as proxy shareholders to conceal foreign ownership. Two individuals were identified: Mr. Chat, 35, who confessed, and Mr. Ngian, 44, who fled the country. The Thonburi Criminal Court issued arrest warrant No. 798/2569 for Mr. Ngian, and police are pursuing his capture.

Dancer's Rain Performance Goes Viral, Prayer Answered

A dancer's rain performance at a Nakhon Phanom ceremony went viral after she prayed for the downpour to pause at specific moments during her act, which she believes were answered miracles.

Dancer's Rain Performance Goes Viral, Prayer Answered
3h ago Khaosod

Ingfah Warahah's performance dancing in the rain during the Phaya Sattanakharaj ceremony in Nakhon Phanom went viral across Thailand. The dancer recently discussed her experience at the "A Fair: Best of 4 Regions" market event at CentralWorld Bangkok, explaining the spiritual intentions behind her performance. She revealed that she prayed for the rain to stop at crucial moments and believes it was a miracle—something difficult to explain.

Ingfah confirmed that even in heavy downpour, she never considered stopping her dance because she had made a vow to complete it. She also asked for blessings regarding love, admitting she is currently single and waiting for someone with matching values who can be supportive. She emphasized she's not particular about gender and that her manager Bossnawat is now more open-minded. She hopes to meet someone suitable and is aiming to get married by age 35.

"I approached this trip with faith," Ingfah explained. "We had to visit four events, starting at night with offerings for good timing. We were told a storm would arrive in 3-4 days. It wasn't ordinary rain—it was a typhoon. During the night prayers, I asked for the events to go smoothly and for the rain to stop if possible during certain parts. I wasn't just concerned about myself; I didn't want the guests to get sick or suffer."

She described how the rain miraculously stopped at key moments. When she performed in her red costume as a northern Thai dancer in the afternoon, the rain paused, then resumed after she finished. For her largest performance—the viral moment—Ingfah made a specific prayer: "Father, I dance four songs. If it must rain, let it be during the third song. I want to be the first dancer to perform in the rain, but let there be beautiful moments." During the first two songs, there was barely any rain, but by the third song, it began falling more heavily in striking streaks.

Ingfah noted that during the performance, she wore contact lenses but couldn't see due to the smoke and heavy rain, so she danced using her senses and spiritual intention, trusting the movements would come naturally. She was amazed that despite the conditions, her outfit remained pristine with nothing falling out of place.

She concluded by sharing her final prayer for the event: "I asked that this Nakhon Phanom 7.7 event—which waited for me for three years before my turn came—be a success at the national and international level. I pray that everyone sees the clip, sees the faith and our ceremony, and that it brings fulfillment to their wishes."

Self-Drive Van Rental vs. Chauffeur Service: Which Suits You?
3h ago Khaosod

Transportation plays a vital role in tourism, business, and various activities—from family trips and corporate travel to seminars and large group journeys. Van rental services have become the go-to option for convenient and flexible travel. However, many travelers struggle to decide between self-drive van rental and hiring a van with a professional driver. This article helps you understand the benefits and key considerations to make the best choice for your travel plans.

Why Self-Drive Van Rental Is Growing in Popularity

Self-drive van rental has gained steady momentum, particularly among tourists, large families, and friend groups valuing privacy and independence. The appeal lies in the freedom to set your own route and schedule without relying on a driver or adjusting plans based on service limitations.

Self-drive rentals offer significant flexibility—you can stop wherever you like, make spontaneous detours, and change plans on the fly. They also provide cost savings by eliminating driver service fees. Modern rental vans come equipped with advanced safety features like automatic braking systems, stability control, and rear-view cameras, making driving more comfortable and secure.

How to Choose a Cost-Effective Van Rental

Regardless of which option you select, evaluating the rental provider is paramount:

Reliability: Choose established companies with strong reputations, industry standards, and genuine customer reviews. Vehicle Condition and Safety: Inspect the van's condition, age, and ensure comprehensive insurance coverage. Pricing and Terms: Compare prices clearly and verify there are no hidden charges. 24-Hour Support: Ensure emergency assistance is available around the clock for peace of mind.

Self-Drive vs. Chauffeur: Which Is Better?

The answer depends on your travel style, budget, and needs. Self-drive rental suits those seeking independence, flexibility, and cost savings—making it an excellent value option. However, if you prioritize maximum comfort, prefer not to worry about navigation, and need long-distance travel, hiring a professional driver is equally viable.

Regardless of your choice, prioritize selecting a reputable provider with quality vehicles and comprehensive safety standards. This ensures every journey is smooth, comfortable, and delivers maximum value for your investment.

American fitness influencer and YouTuber Connor Murphy has died after drowning in a lake at a luxury residential resort in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. The 32-year-old was discovered offshore after rescue divers from the Paw Tek Tung Foundation spent about 30 minutes searching. Preliminary investigation found no evidence of foul play, and his body was sent to Ramathibodi Hospital for a detailed autopsy.

Resort staff who captured footage of the incident reported that before the tragedy, Murphy displayed erratic behavior and appeared unable to control himself before running into the water. Multiple witnesses stated he was swimming in the lake before suddenly weakening and disappearing beneath the surface. No one dared attempt a rescue due to the lake's depth of over 10 meters, so emergency responders were called. Divers later recovered his body from the water.

Police inspected the lakeside rental home where Murphy was staying and discovered it had sustained severe damage, with black and yellow paint splattered throughout the approximately 22-million-baht property, covering furniture, decorations, and electrical appliances.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities wait for autopsy results and toxicology reports to determine the cause of death and whether drugs or other substances were involved. Murphy was known for content featuring bodybuilding, fitness, and social experiment videos. His main YouTube channel, Connor Murphy, had approximately 2.36 million subscribers, while his secondary channel had around 1.28 million, and his Instagram account had approximately 378,000 followers at the time of reporting.

Murphy's death has drawn significant attention in the global fitness and influencer community. Many followers have reflected on his rise to fame, recalling his viral videos and livestreams that featured controversial and unusual behavior in recent years.

Bangkok Police Ordered To Remove Unauthorized Dragon Patch

Huay Khwang Police Station officers were ordered to remove an unauthorized dragon patch they've worn on their uniforms for years, as the emblem violated Royal Thai Police regulations despite having no external organizational connection.

Bangkok Police Ordered To Remove Unauthorized Dragon Patch
4h ago Khaosod

Officers at Huay Khwang Police Station have been wearing an unauthorized dragon emblem on their uniforms for the past 3-4 years. The emblem, worn on the sleeves of operational uniforms by crime prevention and suppression officers, sparked public controversy after images circulated on social media.

On July 9, 2025, Police Region 1 Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Worasak Pisitbharn stated that an initial investigation found the dragon patch was intended to serve as a unit symbol for the station's crime prevention section. The design had no hidden agenda or connection to any external organization.

However, further investigation revealed the emblem was never officially authorized under police regulations. The patch therefore violates Royal Thai Police uniform standards.

To ensure proper, correct, and uniform appearance across all police ranks, Police Region 1 ordered all subordinate stations to immediately inspect and remove any unauthorized emblems or symbols that fail to comply with regulations. All units were instructed to strictly adhere to Royal Thai Police regulations going forward.

Police Region 1 reaffirmed its commitment to lawful operations and is prepared to correct any deficiencies to maintain standards and public confidence in the police organization.

Constitutional Court Splits On 200 Billion Baht Energy Loan Decree

Thailand's Constitutional Court upheld a royal decree authorizing a 200 billion baht energy loan, though two justices dissented on whether the clean energy spending portion exceeded constitutional limits.

Constitutional Court Splits On 200 Billion Baht Energy Loan Decree
4h ago Khaosod

On July 9, 2024, the Constitutional Court deliberated on a royal decree granting the Finance Ministry borrowing authority to address energy crisis impacts and support Thailand's clean energy transition for 2024. The case was brought by 133 members of parliament—representing at least one-fifth of the total—who challenged the decree's constitutionality under Article 172. The court unanimously ruled that provisions aimed at assisting citizens, farmers, and businesses affected by the energy crisis comply with the Constitution. However, the court split 7-2 on the 200 billion baht portion for promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy technology transition across government, private sector, communities, and the public. The seven-member majority, comprising Nakarin Mektrairat, Udom Sittiwiratchathamma, Wirut Sangthian, Naphdol Teppittak, Banjongsak Wongprachaya, Sumet Roikculchaloem, and Sarawut Songsiwilai, upheld that section as constitutional. The two dissenting justices—Chiraniti Havanon and Udom Ratthamrit—argued the 200 billion baht allocation for clean energy technology promotion and skill development exceeded constitutional limits.

Coalition Leader Hits Back At Misinformation On Amnesty Bill

A coalition leader defended the Social Peace Promotion Act against misinformation, confirming that Senate amendments didn't change core principles including Article 112 protections, while insisting the amnesty covers protest-related offense

Coalition Leader Hits Back At Misinformation On Amnesty Bill
4h ago Khaosod

At Parliament on July 9, Kraiweerasak Parisnanantkul, an Ang Thong MP for Bhumjaithai Party and chairman of the government coalition coordination committee, addressed concerns about the Senate's handling of the Social Peace Promotion Act. He confirmed that the Senate's July 8 amendments did not change the law's fundamental principles, including Article 112, which had already been approved by the House in a previous session. Regarding the controversial Senate amendment procedures, Kraiweerasak stated that multiple parties had attempted to distort facts, noting that all appendices remained unchanged and only the law's priority ranking was reorganized without inserting any new legislation.

Kraiweerasak emphasized that the election law amnesty covers groups who blocked polling stations during past demonstrations, including yellow-shirt, red-shirt, and all other protest movements. He outlined three exclusions from the amnesty: corruption, violence causing loss of life, and Article 112 offenses, which he stressed remain firm policy. He acknowledged that Article 112 is a sensitive issue and that pushing too hard against public sentiment could create new conflict, citing past amnesty experiences.

When questioned about amnesty for youth offenders under Article 112, Kraiweerasak explained the government's intent is to promote reconciliation and reduce conflict, not create new divisions. He noted that the passed bill benefits over 6,000 people with more than 2,000 pending cases. Regarding the Democratic Party's Facebook post claiming the government amended the bill to exclude coup-related cases while exempting those who blocked elections, Kraiweerasak expressed concern about presenting distorted facts to the public, though he acknowledged the party later removed some misleading statements.

Thailand Strengthens IP Cooperation With EU and Bhutan
4h ago Khaosod

Thailand is advancing its intellectual property mission on the global stage by partnering with the European Union and Bhutan to drive creative economy growth and boost competitiveness in world markets and promote technology adoption. Dr. Kiridat Phaobpijit, Assistant Minister of Commerce, revealed that he has been tasked by the Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supachee Suthammapanthu to lead Thai delegations in bilateral discussions with intellectual property partner organizations. The goal is to drive international cooperation and advance the Commerce Ministry's policies for developing Thailand's IP system to keep pace with changes in the global economy while creating favorable conditions for trade and investment, and improving the quality of life for Thai entrepreneurs sustainably. During discussions with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), led by Executive Director Joao Negrão, the Thai delegation thanked EUIPO for its ongoing support and collaboration with Thailand's Department of Intellectual Property. Thailand presented recent progress in IP system development, including the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in various services such as AI Image Search and Trademark Checker to help entrepreneurs check preliminary trademark similarities before filing applications. The office is also developing Fast Track services for patent registration, utility patents, product designs, and trademarks, along with efforts to update Thailand's IP laws to align with international standards and prepare for participation in WIPO international agreements. Dr. Kiridat stated that both sides exchanged approaches to elevate cooperation to address challenges in the digital era, focusing on applying modern technology to improve efficiency in processing IP applications and services. The initiative also promotes access to funding for SMEs using intellectual property as financial collateral (IP Finance), as well as the exchange of information and practices regarding geographical indications (GI) to enhance GI product protection standards and expand market opportunities for Thai GI products in the European Union. The Assistant Minister of Commerce witnessed the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Intellectual Property, led by Director General Ormorn Saipthaweedharm, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office, represented by Executive Director João Negrão. This builds upon the previous MOU set to expire in October 2026 and aims to elevate cooperation to align with the economic and technological context of the new era, covering information and tool exchanges, personnel capacity development, enforcement of intellectual property rights, and assessment and commercial exploitation of intellectual property. Both agencies will jointly develop implementation plans to drive concrete cooperation forward. Dr. Kiridat then led the Thai delegation in discussions with Sonam Penjor, Director of the Department of Media, Creative Industry and Intellectual Property (DoMCIIP) of the Kingdom of Bhutan, where both sides discussed approaches to prepare for intellectual property readiness in support of the Thailand-Bhutan Free Trade Agreement.

Constitutional Court Upholds 400 Billion Baht Emergency Loan Decree

Thailand's Constitutional Court upheld a 400 billion baht emergency loan decree, clearing the way for the government to borrow funds for Middle East conflict relief and clean energy projects despite challenges from 133 parliamentarians.

Constitutional Court Upholds 400 Billion Baht Emergency Loan Decree
4h ago Khaosod

The Constitutional Court held deliberations on July 9, 2025, at 9:00 AM to rule on the constitutionality of a royal decree allowing the Finance Ministry to borrow 400 billion baht for emergency relief from the Middle East conflict and to fund clean energy transition projects. A total of 133 parliamentarians—no fewer than one-fifth of all members—had submitted a petition challenging the decree.

Before the ruling, three possible outcomes were considered: (1) the court could find the decree constitutional, deeming the energy crisis an urgent emergency under Article 172, allowing the government to proceed immediately; (2) the court could determine the grounds for the decree do not constitute genuine urgency, requiring a full legislative process instead, which would invalidate the decree and potentially weaken government stability; or (3) the court could find the decree partially unconstitutional, allowing it to apply only to emergency relief measures while requiring legislative action for longer-term energy projects.

The court issued its ruling via written statement rather than a formal bench reading. According to the final report, the Constitutional Court ruled the 400 billion baht decree does not violate the constitution. For the first 200 billion baht tranche—addressing impacts from the Middle East conflict—the court voted 9-0 in favor. For the second 200 billion baht tranche—funding clean energy transition—the court voted 7-2 in favor of constitutionality.

Police Seek Arrest Warrants For Two Drug Kingpins

Police are seeking arrest warrants for two Laotian drug kingpins accused of masterminding a heroin smuggling operation through the Mekong River that involved a Thai flight attendant as a courier to Australia.

Police Seek Arrest Warrants For Two Drug Kingpins
4h ago Khaosod

Police revealed they have compiled evidence to request arrest warrants from the Ratchadaphisek Criminal Court for two men as the masterminds behind flight attendant Meena's heroin smuggling case at the command level for importing drugs through the Mekong River into Thailand, linking to multiple previous cases. Narcotics police and other agencies are investigating an operation smuggling heroin in luggage to Australia and pursuing a mysterious man who left a suspicious package under Meena's condominium. Officers have already detained two key figures: Uthai, the rider who delivered the package to the condo, and Nantawat, the friend who helped destroy a Thai elephant-patterned bag containing hidden drugs. Both have been remanded in custody pending trial. The investigation continues against major operatives including a Line account "Rin Rin" who gave orders and paid money, a Facebook account "Rose Rose" who contacted Meena via chat requesting her to courier the elephant-patterned bag to an Australian recipient, Dier, a Thai woman listed as the package recipient in Australia, and a Laotian network leader based in the neighboring country directing drug smuggling operations into Thailand. On July 9, 2025, Police Deputy Secretary-General Areepakdi Ngenbuam announced the expansion of the cross-border heroin smuggling investigation. After continuous investigation and evidence gathering, all evidence and case details were presented to Ratchadaphisek Criminal Court requesting arrest warrants for two Laotian men, aged approximately 40-50, residing in Laos. Both are considered primary operatives and regional drug owners who transferred payments to network members and ordered the smuggling of drugs into Thailand via the Mekong River. Thai network members then distributed the drugs and prepared them for shipment to Bangkok and beyond to third-country destinations according to recipient lists. If the court approves the warrants, Thai authorities will coordinate with Laotian officials to arrest the two men for extradition and prosecution on charges including conspiracy to commit serious drug offenses, trafficking, and international organized crime. Areepakdi revealed that reviewing past drug cases shows these two Laotian men have employed similar smuggling methods in previous cases resembling Meena's. The heroin shipment to Meena was therefore not their first operation. Thailand and Laos maintain strong cooperation in apprehending drug suspects hiding in border areas.
