The Department of Provincial Administration has mourned a village headman who was electrocuted while helping residents affected by flooding in Prachin Buri province. In a Facebook post on 2 October, the department paid tribute to Thongphim Muangphrom, the village headman of Moo 4 in Khu Lamphan subdistrict, Si Mahosot district. Thongphim had been assisting residents and monitoring their safety during the recent flooding when he was electrocuted and died on the night of 1 October. It said he had also shown courage during an emergency in 2025, when he jumped into a canal to rescue a 6-year-old boy trapped inside a car that had veered into the water. The boy was taken to hospital and survived. “Both in normal times and during disasters, Thongphim carried out his duties as a village headman with pride,” the department said, praising his courage, dedication and willingness to help others despite the danger.
