Thailand's women's volleyball team was unable to overcome host Japan in the Women's Nations League 2026 Week 3 competition in Osaka, Japan (July 8-12, 2026). Thailand competes alongside the United States, Japan as hosts, Brazil, and Turkey.

On July 9, 2026, in their second match at Asus Arena Osaka, world-ranked 22nd Thailand faced 5th-ranked hosts Japan. Thailand has played 9 matches with 2 wins and 7 losses for 9 points, while Japan has competed in 9 matches with 6 wins and 3 losses for 16 points, holding 7th place in the standings.

Coach Kitti Ratchagrienglai, head coach of Thailand's women's volleyball team, made one personnel change from the first match, bringing back setter Porpan Koetprajai who had recently recovered from illness. The team featured Tudtao Nookjaeng, Satipha Jantvisuth, Pimpichaya Kokkram, Ajcharaporn Khongyot, and Kaewkalya Kumultala, with Piyanus Phaenoi as libero.

Thailand attempted to play fast offensive volleyball with strong net plays, but Japan's solid preparation and tight defense proved superior. Strong offensive plays from Japan's veteran spiker Yukiko Wada eventually secured the victory. Despite Coach Kitti's attempts to adjust tactics, Thailand lost 1-3 sets with scores of 15-25, 21-25, 25-22, and 22-25. Japan earned their 7th win, bringing their total to 19 points, while Thailand remains at 9 points.

Thailand's next match is against Brazil on July 11, 2026 at 1:30 PM Thailand time.

Actress Udom Celebrates Milestone 30th Birthday With Joy
6h ago Khaosod

Actress Udom Itsaya is delighted about her 30th birthday celebration, which proved far more meaningful than expected. She entered her thirties feeling content and reflecting on life with greater maturity. Over the past year, she celebrated her birthday multiple times with family, close friends, fans, and her friend Baem Sarali, creating lasting memories.

After an interview for the drama "The Running: Money | Work | Love" at Channel 3's Malinton Building, Udom shared her feelings about reaching 30. She revealed plans to seriously focus on health and fitness, along with updating on her various work projects.

"I've celebrated my birthday so many times this year," she said. "I've spent time with many people—close friends and fans too. This year was especially special because someone made me a homemade cake for the first time, someone drew a portrait for me, and I got surprised multiple times. It was also my first birthday celebration with fans on the actual day. It felt wonderful because we chose to make merit at a senior care home."

When asked how turning 30 felt, Udom reflected: "It's surprising how fast time passes. In my twenties, people would say to live life to the fullest because thirty would arrive in a flash. I didn't realize how true that was. Now I feel more settled, more thoughtful, more systematic in my thinking. The moment I turned 30, I didn't feel dramatically different, but I realize I need greater responsibility and higher expectations for myself."

Regarding fitness, she confirmed: "Yes, I'm back to exercising seriously. I realized if I didn't start now, it would only get harder. I used to exercise on and off, always wanting to rest after work. But now I know I need to commit genuinely."

For her recent birthday dinner, Udom celebrated with adults, friends, and Baem. "We're a close group who travel and make merit together. It was joyful and worthwhile—morning alms, afternoon at the senior home, evening dinner with important people. The food was delicious, and they even made another cake."

When asked about her gift from Baem, Udom smiled: "She gave me home decor items. Baem loves buying plates and decorative pieces. She said they suited me, so she bought them—but not just one item. She brought a whole large set, two heavy bags with a complete plate set, small candlesticks, everything in a full collection. When I was carrying them, I asked how she managed. She said she carried both bags alone and walked straight to the car."

Udom expressed satisfaction with the gift: "I love them. They're beautiful. I'm waiting to see when I'll get to use them. No one has seen this gift yet—just me. Everyone only saw the jelly cake she made. Her birthday wish was simple: 'Happy birthday, may you be happy.'"

Regarding upcoming fan meetings, she confirmed: "Yes, the series has finished, but we still have international fan meetings coming. Soon we'll announce which country and city. Stay tuned!"

Following Netflix's official announcement of three lead actors for the new version of 'Plerng Phra Nang'—Pancake Khemanit, Fern Pimchanok, and Yada Naruenya—fans have been speculating about their respective roles. Pancake herself hinted that fans would not guess her character correctly.

At a recent charity run event, Pancake shared updates on the production. She also briefly addressed previous drama involving model Lincoln Bui from The Face Men Thailand Season 4, clarifying that everything has been resolved and discussed with relevant adults.

Regarding 'Plerng Phra Nang', Pancake confirmed the production is under contract and currently in the editing and post-production stages. She expects the team will announce release details soon, with the series likely to debut by year's end. The shoot took over a year and features spectacular production values, rare and beautiful filming locations never seen in Thailand before, extensive cast and even animals.

When asked about the storyline, Pancake explained the framework remains the same but has been reinterpreted in new ways. Rather than recreating the original visuals, the team aims for a different kind of grandeur and perspective with stunning locations, production design, costumes, and character portrayals. She encouraged fans to approach the remake with open minds.

Despite fans' attempts to guess her role, Pancake playfully confirmed they got it wrong, though some came close. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a major project and invited audiences to follow the upcoming release.

CP Threatens To Withdraw From High-Speed Rail Airport Project

CP Group has requested to withdraw from Thailand's 224.5 billion baht high-speed rail project connecting three Bangkok airports, citing a missing Board of Investment certificate after contract amendment negotiations failed.

CP Threatens To Withdraw From High-Speed Rail Airport Project
7h ago Khaosod

Thailand's State Railway Authority (SRT) director Anon Pothimankaew announced that Asia Arawan Limited (CP Group), the concessionaire for the three-airport high-speed rail project connecting Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, and U-Tapao over 220 kilometers with a budget of 224.544 billion baht, submitted a letter on July 6, 2025 requesting to exercise its right to terminate the joint venture agreement under clause 6.2.

The SRT informed the SRT Board, chaired by Highway Department Director Piyapong Chiwatakul, on July 9, 2025, instructing legal teams to clarify relevant details and report back to the board. The board also acknowledged two proposed solutions discussed between the SRT, the Office of Special Economic Zone Committee for Eastern Region Development (EECB), and Asia Arawan Limited on June 24, 2025.

The two approaches are: 1) Amend the contract according to previous EECB board resolutions from the 4th meeting of 2567 and 1st meeting of 2568. The SRT has negotiated and drafted the new agreement, approved by the Office of the Attorney General, awaiting EECB and Cabinet approval. 2) If option one fails, proceed with contract termination, which the private sector formally requested on July 6, 2025.

Anon explained that clause 6.2 termination requires three conditions: failure to deliver project land, failure to deliver supporting Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) areas at Makkasan and Si Racha stations, or failure to obtain the Board of Investment (BOI) promotional certificate. The SRT has completed land and TOD delivery. The remaining issue is the BOI certificate. Previously, the private sector agreed to waive BOI conditions in exchange for amending the contract to include "Build-Operate-Transfer" terms. Since the amendment cannot be approved, the private company is seeking termination over the BOI issue.

The joint venture agreement specifies four contract termination scenarios: expiration of project term, termination under clause 6.2, breach termination under clause 30.2 (by either party or due to public interest), or termination due to force majeure. Regarding infrastructure overlap with the Thailand-China railway contract 4-1 (Bang Sue-Don Mueang), CP Group confirmed it cannot construct that section, so the SRT will proceed with construction itself, already approved by the SRT Board and to be presented to the EECB and Cabinet.

Concerning the Memorandum of Understanding between the SRT and Asia Arawan regarding Airport Rail Link operations, set to expire September 30, 2025, Anon stated the SRT is exploring options and will discuss this in the project oversight committee meeting.

Security Agency Faces Reform or Dissolution Pressure

Lawmakers are pushing to dissolve Thailand's Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) over budget concerns and a shooting incident involving ISOC personnel against a Narathiwat MP, though officials argue the agency remains necessary for

Security Agency Faces Reform or Dissolution Pressure
7h ago Khaosod

A proposal by Wan Muhammadnor Matha calling for the dissolution of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) signals serious structural problems in Thailand's security apparatus that society is increasingly questioning, including budget justification, overlapping mandates, and public confidence. The harsh comment that "ISOC's achievement is shooting MPs" stems from the shooting of Narat Nara, a Narathiwat MP, whose investigation revealed ISOC personnel and vehicles were involved—a major blow to the agency's image. When an organization tasked with protecting citizens becomes implicated in violence against elected representatives, the damage extends beyond the agency itself to undermine faith in the entire state system. Although ISOC's secretary-general maintains the organization is necessary as a security coordination mechanism and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has clearly stated ISOC will not be dissolved because it has served Thailand for many years, historical arguments alone cannot address society's fundamental questions: What unique value does ISOC create today that other agencies cannot provide, and does it spend public tax revenue wisely? Security organizations should not gain legitimacy simply because they have existed long; they must prove themselves through results, transparency, and commitment to rule of law. If allegations persist of abuse of power, political interference, or weak oversight mechanisms, calls for the agency's dissolution will only grow louder. The government should not dismiss this proposal as mere emotion or local pressure, but rather seize it as an opportunity for a major review of ISOC's role, structure, mandate, budget, and oversight systems to align with modern security threats and democratic principles. While dissolving ISOC may seem extreme, allowing it to continue unchanged is not the answer. The Prime Minister, as ISOC's director, must undertake genuine organizational reform to prevent a repeat of the Narat shooting case where ISOC personnel were directly implicated. Critically, ISOC must serve national security, not become a tool for politicians or those in power to manage opponents or dissidents. If it can achieve this, ISOC will regain public trust and justify its continued existence as a national security organization.

Police Raid Illegal Poker Den In Nonthaburi, Arrest 25

Police arrested 25 gamblers and the operator during a raid on an illegal poker den in Nonthaburi's Bang Khen subdistrict, seizing cards, chips, vehicles and other gaming equipment.

Police Raid Illegal Poker Den In Nonthaburi, Arrest 25
7h ago Khaosod

At 4 p.m. on July 9, 2025, Police Colonel Pruet Chamroonjasana, commander of Rattanathibeth Police Station in Nonthaburi, along with Police Colonel Supchai Srusak and investigation units, executed search warrant number 710/2569 issued by Nonthaburi Provincial Court. Officers raided a residence in Bang Khen subdistrict, Mueang district, after learning of illegal poker operations.

The surprise raid netted 25 gamblers—10 men and 15 women—along with gaming equipment including cards, chips, card spreaders, CCTV cameras, 2 motorcycles, and 3 vehicles. Ms. Patcharee, 40, was identified as the house renter and gambling den operator. Jirayut served as the dealer and house manager, claiming the card games had just begun that day and he earned 500 baht daily. He said the gamblers were acquaintances who had arranged to play together.

One female gambler insisted they did not play daily and claimed this was their first day. She swore an oath, saying she came from Rayong with her sister and was new to this location because no gambling venues existed in Rayong. She insisted they could verify her claim through CCTV footage. Police are processing all suspects and evidence for legal proceedings.
