Woman Arrested With 1.92 Million Methamphetamine Pills in Mukdahan
A 44-year-old woman was arrested in Mukdahan's Huai Yai District with nearly 1.92 million methamphetamine pills hidden in her vehicle during a checkpoint operation on August 12.
On August 12, military and police forces acting on intelligence of suspected drug smuggling in Huai Yai District coordinated checkpoint operations across the area. At 9:30 a.m., officers stopped a gray Chevrolet with Ubon Ratchathani license plates traveling through a village in Phong Kham Subdistrict. Upon search, five bags containing approximately 1.92 million methamphetamine pills—a Class 1 controlled substance—were discovered inside the vehicle. The driver, a 44-year-old Thai woman, was taken into custody. Officers seized the drugs and vehicle as evidence. The suspect has been handed over to Huai Yai Provincial Police Station for formal arrest procedures and legal processing. Investigators are currently pursuing leads to identify connections to larger drug trafficking operations.
