A 33-year-old woman has gone to the media after being injured by flying glass shards from a beer bottle during a brawl in Sattahip, Chonburi, leaving her with a severe chest wound requiring more than 27 stitches. The alleged attacker is a navy chief petty officer who reportedly refused to take responsibility, claiming he had no money to compensate her.
On November 1, 2026, reporters received a complaint from Ms. Pharada, 33, who was injured in a brawl on Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip district, Chonburi province, around 1:30 a.m. on October 31. She was struck by shattered beer bottle glass on the right side of her chest, sustaining a serious wound that required emergency treatment and over 27 stitches at Sattahip Hospital.
Ms. Pharada said that on the night of October 30, she went out with friends to a restaurant. While returning to her car around 11:00 p.m., she witnessed a fight between a group of acquaintances. She intervened to stop the situation from escalating, but a glass bottle shattered and a shard pierced her right chest, forcing her to rush to the hospital.
The victim identified the assailant as a chief petty officer attached to the Navy Operations Department, Royal Thai Navy. He allegedly smashed a beer bottle over the head of another man, known as "Paep," causing the bottle to break and sending glass fragments into her chest, even though she was not involved in the fight and was only trying to intervene.
After the incident, Ms. Pharada filed a police report with Lieutenant Colonel Pongpisut Mahasarasakul, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) at Sattahip Police Station, Chonburi, seeking legal action against those involved.
She added that after receiving medical treatment, she tried to contact the suspect to ask him to take responsibility, but he replied that he had no money for compensation and then stopped answering his phone. She feels she has not received justice, as she was injured while trying to break up a fight, and now faces daily wound-care costs, travel expenses, and ongoing physical effects.
She decided to go public with her complaint, appealing to the suspect's superiors and the navy command to investigate and take disciplinary action, and to ensure the suspect accepts responsibility.
Initially, Lt. Col. Pongpisut said he would summon the navy chief petty officer for questioning and coordinate with his unit to proceed with the case according to the law and ensure fairness for all parties.
