The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the Thai Tourism Industry Council (TTIC) and Guangdong Grandeur International Exhibition Group from China, has announced the World Travel & Culture Expo 2026 (WTCE 2026), scheduled for October 21-31, 2026, at Impact Muang Thong Thani. Operating under the concept "Smartly Link The World," the expo aims to connect the tourism, culture, sports, and creative industries to position Thailand as a hub for tourism, culture, and entertainment in ASEAN.

The event will serve as a major platform to showcase Thailand's potential, build investor confidence, and foster long-term collaboration in tourism, trade, and investment. TAT Governor Thapaniej Kiatyipbul emphasized the authority's commitment to promoting tourism through "Value over Volume" and "Healing is the New Luxury," focusing on attracting quality tourists while enhancing the value of Thai tourism products and services.

WTCE 2026 will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, and partners from over 23 countries worldwide. The expo will feature five main exhibition halls covering tourism business, theme parks, audiovisual technology, the film industry, and intellectual property. Additionally, a forum titled "Future Trends of Tourism" will highlight three major mega-trends: safety, sustainability, and experience, alongside demonstrations of future tourism technologies such as VR, AR, and immersive technology.

China remains Thailand's top source market for international tourists, with 2.88 million Chinese visitors arriving between January and July 2026—a 14.76% increase year-over-year. Full-year projections suggest over 5 million Chinese tourists will visit Thailand, reflecting the strength of bilateral tourism cooperation. WTCE 2026 is expected to create significant opportunities for business expansion, investment, and growth in Thailand's tourism industry.

Natural Resources Minister Suchat Chomklin said on July 22 that before launching the operation to reclaim Nai Thon Beach in Phuket, officials had anticipated that land occupants would deny allegations—particularly claims that they never collected money from tourists or failed to acknowledge controlling public beach areas. Consequently, he instructed staff to methodically gather comprehensive evidence over several months to ensure sufficient proof for legal prosecution, since state resources and public beaches belong to the people and cannot be claimed as private property.

"I knew from the start we'd face people who won't admit wrongdoing, so I had officials collect all evidence in advance to ensure every case has clear evidence," Suchat said. "We'll forward everything to relevant agencies for prosecution to the fullest extent." He added that the Forestry Department has been ordered to document the removal of 26 structures from the encroached Nai Thon area, with plans to strictly enforce the law while building community understanding. He confirmed this operation serves as a model for reclaiming state forest land from business groups and influential figures, with results to be extended to similarly encroached areas nationwide.

So far, 26 items have been dismantled and transferred to the Phuket Forest Protection Unit. Some structures—including photo checkpoints, bridges, and swings—remain under demolition. Structures within military-controlled zones will proceed through legal channels, with the power plant owner expressing intent to demolish voluntarily. Regarding the Naga statue and pavilion tied to public faith, demolition has been temporarily suspended for community consultation to minimize impact on people's feelings, with officials committing to enforce the law while listening to community input for sustainable resource recovery.

'Dear You: A Letter of Love to Mother' had an emotional premiere that celebrated family values shared between Thailand and China. Sahamongkol Film International, Black Dragon Entertainment, and T+66, alongside official sponsors BYD and CP GROUP, brought the warmly received Chinese film to Thai audiences, with the event held on July 21, 2024, at One Ultra Screens in One Bangkok's Parade zone.

The film, which has already captivated over 41 million viewers across Asia, tells the story of letters (known as 'pohyok') sent by overseas Chinese to their families and loved ones, uncovering memories, love, and connections across generations. The movie resonates deeply with Thai families of Chinese descent, as it reflects the long-standing bonds between the overseas Chinese community and Thailand.

The premiere was attended by government and private sector representatives, supporters, artists, influencers, and media. Distinguished guests included Wu Zixiong, Acting Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and Suladda Sarutanon, Thailand's Minister of Culture, who emphasized the film's power to bridge cultures and strengthen Thai-Chinese understanding. BYD Thailand and CP GROUP executives also expressed their commitment to supporting culturally valuable films that inspire audiences widely. On July 22, the House of Representatives Social Welfare Committee, chaired by Ratchanok Sookprasoet from Samut Prakan and vice-chaired by Natchaa Bunchaiinswasdi, held a briefing about problems with the state welfare card. Ratchanok stated that although the government publicly promoted an extension to September 20, the Finance Ministry confirmed that the appeal deadline remains July 31. This conflicting information risks causing many citizens to miss the deadline, as they may assume they have until September.

Ratchanok emphasized that the government has not yet brought the matter to the cabinet for formal approval. She warned that without a cabinet resolution, millions of eligible people could lose their appeal rights due to confusion about the actual deadline. She called on the government to either clarify the deadline immediately or extend it, noting that many people must travel long distances to file appeals and face significant hardship.

Ratchanok further criticized the inconsistency, stating that the government appeared to be misleading over 9 million citizens who previously received welfare card benefits. She urged the government to maintain their original status and provide them adequate time to file appeals. She also noted that local authorities have not yet received official orders from the Interior Ministry regarding the new deadline, adding to the confusion.

Thailand's taekwondo team concluded the 2026 Chuncheon Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea (July 19–21, 2026) with outstanding results, winning 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. The Yothawatetit band from Amatya Panit School in Krabi captured the international championship in China, securing two major awards and earning an invitation to perform at Beijing University. After winning the prestigious Korat Band of Thailand championship, the band was selected as Thailand's representative to compete internationally in China. The trip involved 91 people total—72 students plus 19 parents and supervisors—led by instructor Suphavat Thongsaeng and flying via Thai Airways on a Krabi-Beijing round-trip route.

Most recently, the Yothawatetit band gained recognition for Thailand after winning first place in the Drum Corps Asia International Marching Arts Competition held in Baoding, Tianjin between July 19-21. They took home the championship in the Marching Field Show category and the Best Performance award, along with prize money.

The Thai Embassy in Beijing hosted a luncheon to celebrate and commend the students' success, and the band received an invitation to perform at Beijing University—another source of pride for Thai youth and a showcase of Thailand's reputation, culture, and potential to the international community.
