Thailand's taekwondo team concluded the 2026 Chuncheon Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea (July 19–21, 2026) with outstanding results, winning 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. Gold medals were earned by Petchdaapon Pattananthahiranya (women's under-46 kg) and Thanaphat Nithishabworabhak (men's under-51 kg); silver medals went to Patcharakanya Puleakert (women's under-49 kg) and Jack Woody Mercer (men's under-87 kg); and bronze medals came from Chutiakarn Congkolrattanawattana (women's under-53 kg) and Kanjbussakorn Pichaisongkram (men's under-48 kg).
Assoc. Prof. Pimol Srivikrom, president of the Taekwondo Association of Thailand, noted that modern taekwondo has become highly competitive globally, with skilled athletes from small nations across all continents now matching traditional powers. He said the team's six-medal haul was satisfactory and expressed confidence that athletes and coaches will address weaknesses to prepare for upcoming competitions, particularly the 20th Asian Games in Japan, where Thailand aims to secure gold medals as it consistently has in the past.
