A viral TikTok channel called "Wangpao" (@mochitwangpao) has gained widespread attention for helping drivers find parking spaces at the BTS Mochit parking lot. The account, which has 3,100 followers and over a million video views, broadcasts live updates during peak morning hours (Monday to Thursday, 7:30–9:00 AM) using a fixed camera positioned high above the lot to give viewers a clear overview of available parking spaces.

The channel's appeal lies in its simplicity and straightforward approach—no fancy editing, just genuine live footage showing the entire parking area so viewers can spot open spots in real time. The service has proven genuinely useful for commuters navigating congested mornings, and viewers have even returned to thank the creator after successfully parking, creating heartwarming moments during rush hour.

Social media users have warmly embraced the channel, praising not only the clever idea but also the creator's goodwill and willingness to help without seeking anything in return. Comments reflect widespread admiration, with users calling it more practical than government services and suggesting it deserves payment models to sustain it long-term.

On July 18, Khunlalee Napaombudee, a member of parliament from Ratchaburi and chairwoman of the House Committee on Land, Natural Resources, and Environment, led a team to Saraburi province to meet with 15 relevant agencies addressing a water pollution crisis affecting residents. The meeting included Wachirpong Kuvichitsuwan, a Saraburi MP and chairman of the House Police Committee.

The deputy governor of Saraburi acknowledged that provincial authorities lack direct power to solve the problem and must rely on agencies with legal authority. The committee therefore requested that the deputy governor submit a written statement clarifying which laws or regulations are blocking action and which agencies hold actual authority, so policy and legislative reforms can be pursued. All participating agencies were asked to submit written comments on the issues raised.

Field inspections at four locations in Huai Haeng and Muang Saraburi subdistricts revealed critical conditions. Water samples showed dissolved oxygen (DO) levels of only 0.01 milligrams per liter—just 0.2 percent of saturation—indicating severe oxygen depletion that prevents aquatic life from surviving, consistent with widespread fish kills. Oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) measured negative 392.9 millivolts, confirming anaerobic conditions producing foul gases. Electrical conductivity and total dissolved solids were elevated, typical of fermentation wastewater.

The deputy governor announced that the province will establish a rapid-response unit to investigate complaints immediately upon notification. The committee endorsed this approach and pledged full support. Given the urgency of pollution cases, swift site access enables critical evidence collection before environmental conditions change.

The committee also requested that local administrators hold public hearings to gather information on actual damages from contaminated water flooding agricultural areas. Saraburi province was ordered to urgently address the critical pollution sites where fish are dying to relieve immediate public hardship.

Khunlalee stated that the committee's observations provide direct evidence of the daily suffering residents face from foul odors and dead fish. However, field instruments alone cannot yet fully identify the specific source of contamination.

Residents in Nong Tad, Buriram are frustrated after a faulty screening system incorrectly flagged them as vehicle owners, causing many to be rejected for the state welfare card program. On July 18, a news team surveyed Ballang village in Muang district and found multiple elderly residents who registered for the welfare scheme but failed the eligibility check due to database errors.

Some applicants have never owned vehicles but the system falsely records they own more cars than the program allows. Others sold secondhand cars years ago but the system still lists active vehicle ownership under their names, and sometimes the vehicles recorded don't match what they previously owned.

These errors have cost many genuinely poor residents the opportunity to receive the new welfare card. Most are farmers or day laborers with irregular income. The affected residents have filed appeals for review but remain uncertain of approval, and are demanding that the government correct its screening process.

Ms. Thongdee, a single mother from Ballang village who cares for a disabled daughter, registered for the new welfare card. However, the online system rejected her application, claiming she owns two vehicles exceeding program limits—a claim contradicted by reality. She previously owned one secondhand car but sold it years ago and now owns no vehicles or motorcycles. Since separating from her husband, she has worked locally to support her disabled daughter and herself on a monthly disability stipend of 1,000 baht. She urges the government to verify eligibility carefully, as the welfare payment, though modest, would help purchase rice and food.

Mr. Somrit Ratannam reports the same problem. Though he previously received the welfare card, the system now falsely claims he owns two vehicles when he has never owned a car, only an old motorcycle used to transport his grandson to school, tend crops, and sell vegetables at market for household income. He has filed for review but worries about rejection and calls on the government to conduct accurate verification, as the program's support could genuinely ease family hardship.

The Ministry of Interior has launched a nationwide campaign to enhance safety standards at service establishments and public buildings. Deputy Permanent Secretary Arsa Saempantharat revealed that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul proposed to the Cabinet on July 14 that the Interior Ministry coordinate with Bangkok, the Royal Thai Police, local administrative organizations, and relevant agencies to complete comprehensive inspections within 30 days. This initiative follows a devastating fire at a service establishment on Ladprao Road in Bangkok on July 12.

The Interior Ministry has issued directives to provincial governors and Bangkok covering five key areas: the Department of Local Administration will enforce business regulations and create an inspection database; the Department of Public Works and Urban Planning will assess building structural integrity and fire prevention systems; the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation will verify fire safety equipment and evacuation plans; the Department of Local Administration Promotion will coordinate local inspections and public awareness campaigns; and all 76 provincial governors along with Bangkok and Pattaya must complete checks of all service venues, entertainment establishments, bars, restaurants with live music, and public buildings within 30 days.

Venues covered include nightclubs, pubs, bars, beer halls, restaurants with live entertainment, and any public buildings or establishments serving large numbers of people. Facilities failing to meet safety standards will be prohibited from operating, and legal action will be taken against violators without exception. The public is urged to report violations to the Dhamrong Center hotline at 1567.

On July 18, 2025, authorities received a report of two teenagers wielding knives who forced their way into the quarters of a Buddhist monk at Wat Phothiraj Samakkhi (also known as Wat Ban Taban) in Muang District, Surin Province, early in the morning. The temple, which houses seven resident monks, had only one monk in the targeted wooden cell—27-year-old Phra Pravet, a native of the temple.

Phra Pravet recounted that the attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. while he was chanting. He heard a motorcycle arrive near the temple gate, and when the temple dogs began barking, he peered through cracks in the wooden wall and saw two teenagers, aged approximately 14-15, climbing toward his cell. They called out "Luang Phi!" (Venerable Brother) three to four times before forcefully kicking open the door. When the door opened, one attacker lunged forward and grabbed his neck, brandishing a kitchen knife measuring approximately 15-20 centimeters, and demanded money while threatening him.

When the attacker briefly lost focus, Phra Pravet fought back and wrestled for the knife, resulting in a violent struggle that caused him to fall from the elevated cell. He then ran to alert other monks in an adjacent cell. Seeing the situation turn against them, the attackers fled on an automatic motorcycle along the Surin-Si Kharin Highway without stealing anything.

Phra Pravet sustained minor injuries, including knife cuts on his fingers and foot, and bruising on his knee from the fall. He noted this was the first such incident at the temple. He could clearly remember the face of one attacker—a small-framed boy aged 14-15. He suspects the attackers may be drug-addicted local teenagers.

After reporting the incident to Muang Surin Police Station, Phra Pravet filed an official complaint. Police are currently investigating and pursuing the suspects for prosecution. Closed-circuit camera footage from a nearby shop captured two motorcyclists passing at 2:09 a.m., though the night-time recording was dark and unclear.

Phra Pravet's 63-year-old mother, Nang Pow, expressed deep concern when she learned of the attack at 5:00 a.m. and rushed to the temple. She is grateful her son sustained only minor injuries and is urging police to quickly arrest both teenagers to prevent them from attacking other temples or residents. She suspects they are drug-addicted youth in the area.
