Armed Robber Raids Gold Shop, Steals Gold and Cash in Dramatic Solo Heist
On January 31, 2024, at around 11:30 PM on January 30, Police 191 were alerted to an armed robbery at a famous gold shop inside a shopping mall located at Sukhumvit 50, Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, Bangkok.
Initial reports describe the perpetrator as a single male wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt, long pants, and a cap. Using a firearm, he committed the robbery, stealing 149 grams of gold and approximately 170,000 baht in cash before escaping.
According to the shop staff, the man entered while they were closing the store, doused the counter with oil, and threatened them with a firearm to hand over gold and valuables. After obtaining the items, he immediately fled. The staff immediately triggered an alarm and contacted police.
CCTV footage revealed that the shop door was not fully closed, and the robber crawled through the entrance. He was prepared with a firearm, which he used to threaten staff, doused the counter with oil, and forced employees to place gold into a bag before quickly escaping.
Investigations are ongoing, with police currently reviewing CCTV footage and tracking the suspect's escape route.
