BANGKOK — A lone gunman robbed a well-known gold shop at a shopping mall on Sukhumvit 50 late on Friday night, escaping with gold jewellery weighing 149 baht and cash worth about 11 million baht, according to police reports. The robbery occurred around 11:30 PM on January 30, 2026, at a gold shop inside Lotus's Sukhumvit 50 in Phra Khanong subdistrict, Khlong Toei district. Emergency unit officers and Phra Khanong police quickly responded to the scene. Witnesses described the suspect as a single male wearing a light-blue long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, and a cap. He was armed with a gun and managed to steal gold valued at approximately 11.17 million baht and around 170,000 baht in cash. According to shop staff, the suspect entered the store during closing time, poured fuel, and brandished a firearm. He threatened employees and demanded gold and valuables. After seizing the items, he quickly escaped. Store employees immediately activated the emergency alarm and contacted police. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the mall and surrounding areas while continuing their manhunt for the suspect.
