10-Year-Old Boy Volunteers to Repair Flood-Damaged Motorbikes in Rayong
A 10-year-old boy from Rayong used his motorcycle repair knowledge to volunteer alongside vocational students fixing flood-damaged bikes for locals after the October 2026 floods. Kamolop Phumkhew, who has been learning motorcycle maintenance since second grade, impressed teachers with his professional-level skills. He now aims to become a professional motorcycle mechanic.
On October 9, 2026, at the Thong Mak Ruam Jai IRPC pavilion in Tambon Choeng Noen, Mueang Rayong, reporters reported that Kamolop Phumkhew, a 10-year-old Prathom 4 student, joined teachers and students from Rayong Vocational Education Office in the 'Fix-it Volunteer Flood Relief' initiative, which offered free repair services for electrical appliances and vehicles to residents after the floodwaters receded. The boy's own motorcycle had been damaged by floodwaters at his home, prompting him to bring it to the vocational college for repair and then ask to help fix other villagers' bikes. Drawing on experience gained since Prathom 2 at a community motorcycle repair shop, he volunteered his skills to assist the vocational team and help his community. Inspired by working with the vocational mechanics, he now plans to pursue a motorcycle repair career. Rayong Technical College motorcycle instructor Ratchot Thongdaeng praised Nong Kan for his tool proficiency, quick learning, and enthusiasm, saying he will surely turn his mechanical skills into a future profession.
