A 20-year-old college student named Thanachot has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of a Chinese national inside an apartment in Sattahip district, Chonburi province on August 8, 2026. According to police, Thanachot returned to his girlfriend's apartment after working overnight as a security guard in Pattaya and discovered an unfamiliar man on the bed. He claimed to have confronted the man with a knife to intimidate him, but the two struggled, and Thanachot allegedly stabbed him during the altercation.

Thanachot fled the scene toward Pattaya but surrendered to police after learning the victim, identified as Cao Ke, a 20-year-old Chinese national, had died. He claimed he did not intend to kill the man and was injured with a cut wound on his abdomen during the struggle. Police have charged him with intentional murder and are continuing their investigation, including witness interviews and forensic examination of the crime scene. Authorities are also attempting to locate the victim's relatives.

Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra posted on Facebook about the shooting at Thepsirin Nonthaburi School, saying the incident has shaken the nation. Following the tragedy, many children and youth have come forward sharing their bullying experiences, many of which were previously unknown. Thaksin stated that bullying encompasses more than physical force or harsh words—it includes ignoring others, exclusion, ridicule, humiliation, and making someone feel worthless. Kannika argued that Thailand must shift its security mindset from viewing safety as solely a police responsibility to adopting the concept of "police and public as security partners." Police cannot be stationed at every street corner, school, mall, hospital, or public gathering space, but teachers, employees, medical staff, business owners, and community members are already present in those locations and know them best. If these people have proper knowledge, communication systems, and connections to police, they become a crucial force for prevention before crises escalate.

At approximately 9 p.m. on August 7, Phitsanulok City Police received a report of an armed attack. A suspect aged 65-70, wearing a black shirt under denim, shorts, and a brown backpack, arrived on a black Honda Wave motorcycle near a pork barbecue restaurant on Bian Jan Soi, Thung Nam-Makham Tia Road, Moo 6, Hua Ro Subdistrict, Muang District, Phitsanulok Province. He then fired eight shots at Pramesuan, 43, of Moo 7, Khan Chong Subdistrict, Wat Boset District, Phitsanulok, who was watching television with his wife and 7-year-old daughter.

Pramesuan spotted the gunman arriving and immediately fled with his daughter to the back of the shop as the attacker drew his weapon. The suspect pursued them and fired three to four more rounds, while the wife and daughter escaped another direction. The attacker then remained inside the victim's home briefly before fleeing, appearing to be intoxicated.

After the gunman left, Pramesuan emerged and called police immediately.
