Student Arrested for Stabbing Chinese Man in Chonburi
A 20-year-old Thai college student was arrested in Chonburi after fatally stabbing a Chinese man he found in his girlfriend's apartment, claiming he acted in self-defense during a struggle over a knife.
A 20-year-old college student named Thanachot has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of a Chinese national inside an apartment in Sattahip district, Chonburi province on August 8, 2026. According to police, Thanachot returned to his girlfriend's apartment after working overnight as a security guard in Pattaya and discovered an unfamiliar man on the bed. He claimed to have confronted the man with a knife to intimidate him, but the two struggled, and Thanachot allegedly stabbed him during the altercation.
Thanachot fled the scene toward Pattaya but surrendered to police after learning the victim, identified as Cao Ke, a 20-year-old Chinese national, had died. He claimed he did not intend to kill the man and was injured with a cut wound on his abdomen during the struggle. Police have charged him with intentional murder and are continuing their investigation, including witness interviews and forensic examination of the crime scene. Authorities are also attempting to locate the victim's relatives.
