On September 12, 2025, the King Prajadhipok's Institute Class 30 (KPI 30) held a meeting with Chiang Rai Province to discuss strategies for addressing haze and PM2.5 dust pollution, including measures to reduce and ban burning in the area. The initiative seeks to foster multi-sector cooperation and implement lasting, tangible solutions to the air quality crisis.
Chiang Rai Governor Chucheep Phongsai and Deputy Governor Praseert Jitplicheep, along with representatives from the Chiang Rai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office and the Natural Resources and Environment Office, participated in the discussions and shared situational data and operational recommendations.
The KPI 30 delegation comprises government and private sector leaders, headed by Supchai Yodkaew, chairman of Nonthaburi Company Limited. Other members include senior judges, election observers, members of parliament from Chiang Rai, and representatives from various businesses.
Beyond provincial coordination, the Rachada Bhisek Housing Group KPI 30 also signed a memorandum of understanding with Doi Chang Coffee Company and coffee farmer groups to raise awareness and expand cooperation networks in reducing PM2.5 pollution. The initiative emphasizes participation from community, agricultural, business, and government levels, as well as the broader public.
The partnership aims to scale local efforts into national awareness and public participation, making air quality management a collective responsibility rather than the task of a single agency. The project also supports the government's efforts to raise environmental standards and promote social participation, aligning with Thailand's path toward potential OECD membership.
