Thousands Rally in Bangkok Demanding Prosecution in Senate Collusion Case

BANGKOK — On September 13, 2026, crowds gathered at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre as the Internet Law Reform Dialogue (iLaw) organized a rally demanding the Election Commission prosecute all 229 suspects accused in the alleged 2024 Senate election collusion case. The event, titled "People Take Action: Prosecute 229", served as a final push for public accountability before the EC was set to consider the case on September 14.
Participants marched from iLaw's office on Lat Phrao Road to the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, where they arranged blue sheets on the ground forming the number 229. The color blue was chosen to reference the Bhumjaithai Party, which demonstrators believe was linked to the alleged collusion, though the party has denied involvement. The rally featured music, satirical songs criticizing the Election Commission and the "blue party", and organizers distributed copies of a tabloid about alleged Senate election fraud.
The event was attended by iLaw Executive Director Yingcheep Atchanont, People's Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, and People's Party list MP Parit Wacharasindhu. Large crowds gathered in both the plaza and nearby skywalk, with Pathum Wan Police Station deploying uniformed and plainclothes officers to maintain order. The EC is expected to announce its decision on Monday, September 14.
