For Thai Deputy Blames Others While Dodging Own Role
Pheu Thai deputy secretary-general Linpaporn Varunwatchraporon accused rival politicians of hypocrisy while defending her party's handling of a parliamentary quorum case, claiming they violated principles by supporting a minority government
On September 13, Linpaporn Varunwatchraporon, deputy secretary-general of the Pheu Thai Party and former education minister, posted on Facebook responding to criticism from Virodh Lukkhana-adit and Amrutan Chokpomittakul over their remarks on Bhumitham Vejyachai, a former deputy prime minister, regarding a parliamentary quorum case.
Linpaporn questioned when Virodh and Amrutan would stop their pattern of behavior, stating that the Pheu Thai Party followed all legal procedures during its time in government and did everything to the best of its ability. She warned the Phak Prachathai party that the issue would disappear if they stopped supporting the minority government.
Regarding the quorum case, Linpaporn noted that the Election Commission would consider it on September 14 as part of the current legal process and outside the Pheu Thai Party's oversight authority.
She called on Virodh and Amrutan to stop lecturing about principles, arguing that their own party had also violated principles. She contended that only those who consistently upheld principles should speak on the subject, not a party that had acknowledged making a "wrong decision" in supporting the formation of a minority government. She criticized their silence on the quorum issue during the minority government period and expressed disbelief at Amrutan's language as a public figure, suggesting it reflected thoughtlessness and lack of maturity.
Linpaporn interpreted their actions as an attempt to destroy the Pheu Thai Party and urged them to stop blaming others while exempting themselves. Regarding the parliamentary quorum case, she argued that if they truly respected the people, they should let the public decide for themselves through elections.
