Ruling Party MP Attacks Opposition Over Budget Vote Dispute
A Pheu Thai MP accused ruling coalition allies of hypocrisy over a disputed budget vote count that saw 229 lawmakers accused of parliamentary misconduct on September 7.
On September 8, Rukchanok Srinork, a Pheu Thai list MP, posted on Facebook accusing a ruling coalition figure of flip-flopping after previously saying the opposition should not use parliament to lead society, but now claiming Article 36 is correct. "They can say anything without shame," she wrote, mocking the coalition over accusations that 229 lawmakers were involved in parliamentary misconduct. She referenced an earlier dispute between Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai over vote counts (229 vs. 44) during the 2570 budget bill debate on September 7, challenging the 44 lawmakers who sided with the junta to face legal action like Bhumjaithai members, and thanking Bhumjaithai MPs for publicly confirming the 229 figure related to their party. In a postscript, she distinguished between courage to defend legislative authority against problematic laws and shameless attempts to seize state power.
