The Krabi Elephant Hospital and Krabi Elephant Conservation announced on September 8 that Pang Bua Suan, a long-term patient who had been bedridden, passed away on September 6. The elephant suffered a spinal injury and paralysis in all four legs from an accident years earlier, requiring constant care for more than 8 years. The hospital's team provided full care throughout her stay.
Initial autopsy findings indicate organ failure as the cause of death, with additional laboratory samples sent for further analysis. The hospital expressed gratitude for all the medicine, supplies, and emotional support provided to Pang Bua Suan over the years.
Veterinarian Bow, who cared for Pang Bua Suan for five years before transferring to another facility, posted an emotional tribute recalling small moments they shared: treating her wounds while she playfully spat saliva, her cry for milk, the way she held his leg when frightened, teaching her to pretend to sleep, baking birthday cakes that made her eyes light up, and singing happy birthday—which always made him cry. He remembered her stealing food from others and expressed how much he misses her, hoping her journey brings her to a warm, safe, and happy place. He promised that the five years of memories will forever remain in his heart.
