MP Says System Error Erased Budget Vote Against Party Line
Bangkok MP Thanadech Pengsuek claims a system error prevented his no-confidence vote on the 2570 budget from being recorded despite pressing the button on September 10.
On September 12, 2569, Thanadech Pengsuek, a Bangkok member of parliament from the Thai People's Party, addressed the matter of voting on the fiscal year 2570 budget bill in its third reading. He explained that on September 10, while present in parliament, he pressed the button to register his presence and cast a vote of 'no confidence' in the budget bill, in line with his party's resolution. However, the subsequent voting record system showed only his registration, with no vote registered—a discrepancy he attributes to a system error. He has reported and clarified the facts with the Thai People's Party accordingly.
Throughout the second reading of the budget bill, Thanadech voted against every article, leaving him with no reason to change his position in the final vote. He also denied rumors that he had previously supported the government's budget position at the subcommittee level, and offered to release all meeting minutes for immediate verification.
Thanadech reaffirmed his commitment to remain in the Thai People's Party and maintain his political stance, stating there have been no political negotiations or compromises. He emphasized that he values the trust placed in him by voters more than any political position. Should he ever find himself unable to stand by the principles voters entrusted him to uphold, he would rather return his position to the people than trade that trust for a shift in political allegiance.
"For me, this is about honor, dignity, and accountability to the people, and I will preserve it," Thanadech said.
