Pol. Lt. Gen. Traitrong Puiwan, Assistant National Police Chief, visited Region 9 Provincial Police headquarters in Hat Yai, Songkhla, on October 21, 2026, to deliver crime prevention and suppression policy in line with National Police Chief Pol. Traitrong stated the National Police Chief is deeply concerned about police operations in the three southern border provinces and four districts of Songkhla classified as special areas. He ordered operational plans adjusted to local conditions, requiring flexible checkpoint and patrol perimeter placement responsive to ground situations. Strategies for checkpoint and interdiction point placement must be reviewed, with personnel deployment and area division tailored to specific threats. All checkpoints must display proper signage, maintain full equipment, and operate strictly within legal and tactical frameworks.

He further directed station chiefs and crime prevention commanders to personally conduct daily briefings, assign tasks, and supervise operations directly. Supervisors must visit officers in the field to boost morale, with all operations prioritizing personnel safety.

Additionally, the three southern border provinces and four Songkhla districts will be developed into Safety Zones, beginning with economic zones and security agency locations before expanding safety measures into surrounding communities.
