Actor Remembers Late Actress With Annual Charity Ceremony
Actor Pechayaphusit held an annual merit ceremony at a Nonthaburi temple on late actress Tangmo's birthday, September 13, expressing hope that recent case developments will reveal the truth about her death.
On September 13 at Pak Nam Temple in Nonthaburi Province, Pechayaphusit (Pae Sa) joined close friends Thonkrit (Odd) and Pimpakan (Dew), along with fan club members led by Saimon Naruemal and Thanphruetdi Ployengyam from Bossa Cafe, and Pongsaphan Samorachit from Wealth Clinic in Nakhon Si Thammarat, to make merit for late actress Pattrathida Patchareepongse (Tangmo). After the ceremony, Pae Sa told media: "Today marks Tangmo's birthday on September 13. I hold this ceremony every year—last year I organized it in Chanthaburi because I had business there. I do this for Tangmo twice a year: once in February when she passed, and again on her birthday September 13. I still think of her every day, we still chat daily, and I message her constantly. I'm always doing things for her.
This year is special because the case has progressed one or two steps forward, which is good news and heartening. Many people have watched, and I want the public to see that Tangmo did not actually jump off the back of the boat as reported or as people have said. My team and I, along with the Baan Phra Athit team, continue fighting for Tangmo, even though they are not relatives or close friends and didn't know her well before. I respect their dedication while they work. I know the hardship, patience, and pressure from ill-willed people or those with different views who claim she jumped. It is comforting to confirm that Tangmo did not jump off the boat and was not on the boat when others claimed she was. With the truth now revealed, I feel at ease with what the news has reported. I thank Khwan Usmani deeply for her efforts and support for Tangmo."
When asked if other friends also held a ceremony today, Pae Sa responded: "I'm not aware of other ceremonies, but I did invite other friends. Some are busy—Atom is teaching tennis—so they couldn't come. That's fine. We do what we can and will continue sending good wishes. Those who can come will come. When fans arrived this morning to participate, they prepared robes and offerings for the monks. I'm happy about that. This year has been quite active with public interest in Tangmo's case, and I'm very grateful."
Asked about his earlier live broadcast comments regarding a friend, Pae Sa said: "What I said in the live stream came from my feelings. We felt that what this person said in an interview didn't match their original account from four years ago. There are inconsistencies between then and now. If they had given today's statement four years ago, it would have helped Tangmo's case much more. I don't know why they didn't. They called through Dew to clarify, but they said they weren't calling to clear things with me—they just weren't interested in clarifying. That's fine. I'm not taking it seriously."
