Survey: Thais Use AI to Boost Work, But 33% Fear Job Loss
Thai workers are increasingly using AI for creative tasks and document handling, but nearly a third fear automation will eliminate jobs, according to a RealWatch Lab survey of online discussions from early 2025.
A RealWatch Lab survey of Thai internet users across all social media platforms between January and August 2025 found 26,399 posts mentioning artificial intelligence. Of these, 17,414 discussed AI in general terms, 4,107 covered daily and work applications, and 4,878 addressed concerns and impacts. The most common workplace uses were creative work (36.01%), including video creation and online marketing; document handling (31.07%), such as rapid document management and script writing; workflow optimization in organizations (13.61%); education and learning support (11.08%); and specialized data analysis (8.23%), including stock market forecasting and code debugging. However, significant concerns also emerged: 33.35% of respondents expressed worry about job displacement by AI, with comments like "if AI does the work, what will people do?" and "whoever masters AI will stay, others will go." The second-largest concern was reliability and accuracy at 30.96%, with users noting that AI often provides incorrect answers and requires careful oversight. Long-term economic and social impacts ranked third at 15.15%. The findings reflect a widespread pattern among Thai internet users: increasing adoption of AI tools alongside persistent anxiety about employment security and dependability.
