Drunk Police Officer Fires Gun in Apartment Rampage
A drunk police officer fired approximately eight rounds in a Bang Lamung apartment on September 19, injuring no one, after witnesses said he became aggressive following drug use and retrieved a pistol from under a pillow.
On September 19, 2025, Deputy Inspector Sunthaya Kanthrap of Pattaya City Police Station received a report of gunfire in an apartment room in Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chachoengsao province. Officers sealed off the area and found bullet holes in the third-floor walls and ceiling from approximately eight rounds fired, but no injuries were reported.
The suspect was identified as a police officer from Bang Lamung station. Officers detained him along with his 9mm weapon and brought in four women, aged approximately 18-25, for questioning. According to witness accounts, the officer appeared heavily intoxicated and was behaving erratically, threatening to damage property and assault the women. When he retrieved a pistol from under a pillow and opened fire, everyone fled the room and called for help.
One of the women reported that the officer had mentioned obtaining ketamine before returning to the room in an altered state, attempting to assault them. The women stated that substances including ketamine and poppers were present in the room, and all four admitted to drug use. The officer claimed he fired in self-defense, believing intruders were entering.
The apartment caretaker's sister confirmed arriving after hearing commotion and finding the officer in a trembling, agitated state with visible signs of drug use before he discharged the weapon. Deputy Inspector Sunthaya coordinated with forensic teams to collect evidence and conduct drug testing on all occupants. While the four women have already submitted to urine tests, the officer remains untested. Authorities stated that if the officer tests positive for narcotics, he will face immediate disciplinary proceedings and strict legal prosecution without exception.
