Thai Sprinter Biu Named One of 15 Athletes to Watch at 2026 Asian Games
Thai sprinter Biu Phuripon Bunsorm has been named one of 15 athletes to watch at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya-Aichi, becoming the first Southeast Asian to break the 10-second barrier in the 100-meter dash at age 20.
The International Olympic Committee's official Instagram has named Biu Phuripon Bunsorn of Team Thailand as one of the 15 most-watched athletes at the Nagoya-Aichi 2026 Asian Games. The Thai sprinter is the first Southeast Asian athlete to break the 10-second barrier in the 100-meter dash, achieving this milestone at just 20 years old—a remarkable rising star. The other 14 athletes include Philippine gymnast Carlos Yulo (two-time Olympic gold medalist), South Korean badminton player An Se-young, Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem (two-time Asian Games champion), Japanese female javelin thrower Kita Kujitsu, Indonesian sport climber Weddrick Leonardo, Chinese table tennis player Sun Yingsha, 18-year-old Philippine tennis player Alexandra Ilia (who has won professional WTA titles), South Korean fencer O San Guk, Japanese gymnast Hashimoto Daiki, Chinese gymnast Zhang Boheng (Olympic silver medalist), Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, Indonesian weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah, Japanese squash player Watanabe Satomiji (world No. 6), and South Korean archer Kim Jun-woo (five-time Olympic gold medalist).
