Thai PM Visits Japan, US, UK for UN General Assembly
Thai PM Srettha Thavisin travels to Japan, the US, and the UK, attending the UN General Assembly in New York from September 20-27 with bilateral meetings, investor roundtables, and engagements with global leaders.
Government spokesman Akkapol Pieapaiset announced the itinerary for Prime Minister Anupun Chaynveerakul and Deputy Interior Minister for the 81st UN General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York from September 20-27, with official visits to Japan and the United Kingdom.
On the morning of September 20, the Prime Minister and delegation will depart from Air Force Base 6 for Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND), arriving in the evening. On September 21, he will chair a Thai team meeting at the Imperial Tokyo Hotel before departing for New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in the afternoon. Upon arrival in New York, he will receive a briefing on UNGA81 proceedings from Thailand's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
On September 22, the PM will attend UNGA81's opening ceremony and general debate session at UN headquarters, then meet with Rebeca Grynspan, Costa Rica's candidate for UN Secretary-General. In the afternoon, he will participate in an investor roundtable with Bank of America and meet PIMCO executives before attending a reception hosted by the US President for UNGA81 participants.
On September 23 morning, the PM will visit Google's Pier 57 office for discussions and meet with the Thai community in New York at Wat Phutthai Thai Thavorn Vanaraam. He will have a working lunch with Brookfield executives and hold bilateral talks with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands at UN headquarters. In the evening, he will meet with private sector representatives and speak at a dinner hosted jointly by the US-ASEAN Business Council and US Chamber of Commerce.
On September 24, the PM will meet with New York Stock Exchange officials and ring the opening bell before joining an investor roundtable with Jefferies Group LLC. He will also hold bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Bhutan, Armenia, and Bangladesh, as well as the UN Secretary-General. At 5 p.m., Thailand will deliver its general debate statement as the eighth speaker, lasting approximately 15 minutes, before the PM departs for London that evening.
On September 25 morning, the PM arrives in London. In the afternoon, he will meet with the Lord Mayor of the City of London and representatives of UK financial, business, and trade sectors, as well as the Thai-UK Business Council.
