American Tourist Dies in Patong Hotel Under Investigation
A 35‑year‑old American tourist, identified as Smith Gray Allen, was found dead in his hotel room in Patong, Phuket, on October 4, 2026. Police discovered him lying on the bed wearing only shorts, with no signs of foul play. Authorities have notified the U.S. Embassy and are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
Police officers and a duty doctor conducted an autopsy and prepared inspection reports, sketches, and photographs as evidence before proceeding with standard procedures. The body was then sent by the Phuket Ruamchai Rescue Unit, Patong station, to the mortuary at Vachira Phuket Hospital. Authorities also notified the U.S. Embassy to inform the next of kin and arrange for the remains to be repatriated for religious rites. The cause of death remains under investigation.
